Looking for a partner on a quest to boost people's financial literacy

One of the most impactful decisions of my life was to create a tool to project the state of my bank account into the future. The idea is simple: you enter how much money you have right now, you enter all your recurring expenses (such as groceries and bills) and incomes, and you get a number indicating how much money you'll have for each given month in the future.

Having this number before me helped me plan a move to another country. It was instrumental in convincing me that I could afford to go on a dream vacation and maintain peace of mind as a freelancer programmer with an uncertain income.

I'm now looking to implement this tool into a commercial product.

For that, I'm looking for a tech and marketing co-founders.

As a tech co-founder, you will be responsible for the development of the web app using React (or another similar framework you're comfortable with). I have a deal of industry experience with software development and mentorship, and I'd be happy to mentor you. However, you will be responsible for the development part.

As a marketing co-founder, you'll be responsible for reaching out to the potential customer. This includes understanding the product, the values behind it, the target audience the channels of outreach, and the proper messaging. This also includes conducting market experiments to test ideas when required. Also, this includes collecting feedback and effectively channeling it back to the founding team for us to adjust the product.

This project is the first one in a larger set of projects I'd like to build, all aligning with the mission to empower people to get better control over their lives: financial, tasks, nutrition aspects, and others.

Hey Toli, congrats on this.

However, I would recommend you find someone not with the CRA since React themselves stopped supporting the basic CRA setup, but with Vite it's doable. Better even, do a NextJS (with Typescript to avoid bugs/issues in the long run in your codebase) since it's the whole framework on top of React.

I have been an ex-game dev working with publishers like Voodoo, SHAREit etc along with web app dev from react with MERN stack to NextJS with Supabase (BaaS). I would have loved to be a part of this actually, but Im not looking for a pure tech-based role atm. However, I'm still very interested in its development, if it isn't much, may I ask what is the vision for this that you see?

Let me tell you from my heart this if I was a part of this as a co-founder:
1. I see this holding some true potential, in terms of making financial decisions, since there are already enough finance apps, I would niche down even more and instead take the focus from B2C to B2B and target high paying low volume approach first, helping small businesses to better predict their finances.
2. Then I would have my team prepare 2 demos for this project. A. Generic Demo where we have a casual lead and then a customized demo for each client, after studying their business structure to their target customers. So, 2 demos for each potential lead. 1 is reusable, the other is client-specific.
3. So, instead of convincing 100 users to pay $10, it is better to convince 10 clients to pay $25. This is just an example In my opinion, since we need to find the right balance between too low to drop our quality vs too high to lose interest. Before deciding on any price, I would estimate our basic operational costs to burn rate as well so we can get the right pricing.
This is given that we have a solid technical person, as well.

    I believe this has both b2c and b2b potential, but b2b has more commitment because you ask them for more price.
    Nevertheless, what you proposed here, If I was a co-founder on this one, with a solid tech guy with us, I would have it built, and start with targeting small businesses that dont have their own setup and would either have to pay for their own software to be built which can be in $1000's or hire a guy to that, which is again gonna cost. So a solution where we save them $100 in exchange for $25 still profiting them $75 along with their time saved in hourly rate is how you should make your elevator pitch.
    
    Once again, I would be very interested in the project if it had some sort of MVP or even outsourced a dev and made an MVP.
