Looking for a tech co-founder to create an accounting app for Indian SMEs

Hello All,

TLDR - Need someone to help build an MVP for an accounting and invoicing app.

Details:

Problem Statement:

India has a total 40Mn+ SMEs. A majority of these SMEs are unorganized and have very limited access to CAs (Chartered Accountants) or even basic accountants.

An additional segment - digital entrepreneurs (freelancers, solopreneurs, and early stage entrepreneurs) - suffer from a similar problem. While this segment is knoweldgable/tech savvy and has access to online and offline solutions, they find it difficult to get a solution that is simple, cheap, but does the required work.

Both these segments have a very tough time with:

1. Day to day accounts and bookkeeping
2. Income Tax filing
3. Financial Compliances
4. Respond to legal notices, etc.

Existing solutions (in India):

For SMEs - Local accountants or a few CAs that exploit the supply demand dynamic and charge very high fees.

For digital entrepreneurs - Expensive solutions like SAP, Oracle, other ERPs or cheap but complicated solutions like Zoho, Profitbooks, Quickbooks. Tally that have become too clunky (and slightly old school) to be able to focus on specific but simple use cases

Proposed solution

Build an extremely simple cloud based web app that allows:

• Invoicing
• Basic double entry accounting
• Track expenses
• Track purchases
• Reconciliation

The web app will be free (or very cheap to use).

All other tasks like Income Tax Filing, Compliances, etc. will be paid. Since the businesses would have already uploaded all their data on the app, it would be extremely simple to do all these tasks in the background.

Other alternatives (not in India) - WaveApps is the only other solution that I think is doing well, but is limited to North America at the moment.

Who am I looking for

Someone to help develop the MVP, and also help with maintaining it while we run it in the beta. I am comfortable if the person wants to work part time on this while we test the MVP. Also open if you are not based in Germany or India.

If you've worked on an accounting solution before, that would be ideal.

About me:

I am a product manager with 11 years of experience with 8 of them in product. I am from India, currently based in Germany, working for a Silicon Valley based company.

I already have a team of CAs + accountants associated with me to handle the real work on the backend.
