Looking for a weekly accountability group?

I see a lot of text forms for goal setting, but I'm someone who does better with regular meetings. Is anyone interested in forming a group where we would share weekly/bi-weekly updates and keep one another accountable on our goals?

I'm in ET (Toronto) btw

Hi @djklee, while it is a good idea in principle I have to agree with @oras regarding the pressure.

Knowing how to do something could be more valuable than someone keeping watch of them doing it.

    I am using the pioneer.app.
    Why?

    1. It is already developed community only for this
    2. You got a lot of feedback

It seems like pioneer is very competitive based on their leaderboard feature, and I'm not so sure that I'd like that environment.

It also seems like pioneer is attached to an accelerator. Are you also part of that system? If so, how is it?

Yes, I am part of that.

Yes it is accelerator but to join the accelerator they have some goals and something else. But I am not interested in the accelerator.

Its my 2 weeks and I find it useful.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me, and I'm glad you're enjoying it. Although I still don't think I will use it. It seems to me like a lot of the value pioneer offers is tied up in being ranked in their global top 50, which is not something I like.

I've been thinking about this as the topic comes up often, but I think people don't really make progress on actually setting up accountability groups.

I'm going to trial out something on a set time on a Monday and Friday for people to book and show up to talk and stay accountable, won't be same people everytime, but I'm keen to give it a shot and make it into a bit of a ritual.

Maybe other things could come out of it too.

I think you need to keep it small. I am doing this with a friend of mine and here is what I find useful:

      • Pressure to get at least one thing done.
      • Talk about next week's milestone which might sound obvious but it is nice to have a clear idea that you can communicate about your next milestone.
      • I learn new things from him about what he's trying to achieve.
      • Building consistency.
      • Feedback!

We do 1 hour a week and I think the value of keeping the group small, I suppose anything more than 5 would be just like a work meeting when most people snooze out :) But I might be wrong.

That's great! I'll be glad to join in on your Monday/Friday sessions. Please DM me when you have more information

EDIT: Just realized IH doesn't have a DM system. Instead, please email me at [email protected]!!

With Enter Network I run a community for founders throughout Europe (and beyond) — we share ideas and feedback, talk to expert entrepreneurs, organize online startup events and hold each other accountable. I'm not entirely sure whether this is what you're looking for, but you're always welcome to give our community a try.

This looks like what I wanted to find and more. Although I'm not based in Europe (based in Canada), and I'm not sure I could commit to being a paying member of your group yet. I signed up for the free version though!

That sounds good @djklee ! We also have some non-Europeans in our community (e.g. from Kenya, US) so that's no problem. You're very welcome to join our weekly sessions on Friday, and other sessions too should you be able/willing to commit!

    Sure, count me in!

      That's great!

If you feel comfortable, please send me a message at [email protected] and I'll try to set things up.
