Hi all, I've recently left my job at Google and early in developing a new business to serve small businesses. The problem area is around enabling remote independent contractors to perform pay for performance work into a small businesses customer base.
Looking for technical partner(s) to join in the fun. If you're passionate about the indie worker / gig economy space let's chat!
#looking-for-cofounder
I am interested in this and I'm a champion of the gig economy. Also a full-stack dev.
I am interested in this. What kind of founder are you looking for?
My background is sales and go to market. Lots of other handy skills in addition to that but not sme-level. Full stack eng is probably most complementary and needed for me. If that's you would be great to chat!
How far have you gotten so far? Name, landing page, logo, etc?
Honestly none of those.. more my style to focus in customer and user research and that's where I've started. A lot of positive feedback from smbs, but been harder so far to find the right fit on the gig worker side. About to begin a new round of those interviews. Have 5 or so people signed up on that side.
I've been a contract full-stack developer for startups since 2012 (mostly in NYC). if that fits your definition of "gig worker" let me know if you want feedback: dan@vertex360.co
Hey @vertex360 - I think there might be some opportunity between Vertex360 and my product, 1Brand. Message me?
That’s an interesting space. How would you facilitate the relationship between the small business and the indie worker? How would this be different than something like upwork or fivrr?
I believe that much of this type of work is either hired hourly managed in house or outsourced for a steep monthly fee. Having managed operations in both models, I can see how with prescriptive training and operations, things run smoothly (good inputs, good outputs).
The Fivver difference is focus on transactional customer facing roles, considerable training and QA, less jobs but higher payouts, account managers for smbs
Fiverr brings me to a really severe problem of language and experience barrier. And unlike Upwork they do not secure transactions properly.
I found myself dissatisfied with seemingly cheap service.
So, quality, quality, quality.
