Looking for content ideas, drop a ๐Ÿ”— to your project

๐Ÿ‘‹ I started a new short-form video series where I share how I would run a content strategy for different startups (my TikTok is @ramoswriter if you want to see some examples).

โœ… Quick background: Been getting paid to write online since '08, was staff writer at Ghost.org, currently a Sr SEO Analyst at an enterprise company

๐Ÿ‘‰ If you'd like me to make one about your startup/project, just drop a link in the comment along with a short explanation about it.

๐Ÿ’ก My audience is pretty small, so you likely won't get that much free promotion out of it ๐Ÿ˜…. Instead, the goal is to give you some ideas about what you could write to start gaining some SEO traction in the near & long term.

๐Ÿค I'm trying to get better at the short-form medium and help a few people along the way!

THANK YOU to everyone who answered on this thread!

I currently have 77 submissions ๐Ÿ˜… so it's going to take me a few weeks to create videos for them all.

FYI, all videos <60 seconds will also be re-posted onto YouTube, that way you can access it even if you don't have TikTok.

    Time to get to work!

    1. 1

Great man! Keep up your work.

    2. 1

Hey David that's awesome! I only saw your post now, so if you get a chance after the other 77 subs, I'd love to hear how you would do content strategy for my project too :)

Hi, I have created LINQ Me Up (https://www.linqmeup.com), a microsaas that converts SQL queries into C# LINQ code.

LINQ Me Up saves developers time that need to convert SQL (ie: for migrating / updating solutions) or helps people with SQL knowledge to get LINQ code.

It's very niche, so still working on getting users to convert to payment)

I'm working on a AI-powered dating app called pfau. It stands out from the competition in that the proposals are fewer but more carefully selected and appropriate. In addition, the ki ensures that fake profiles are a thing of the past.

I am thinking of doing a health/biohacking newsletter, what do you think of the idea?

    1. 1

Depends on how you intend to monetize it. I would start with the tightest niche that has a clear (and ideally underserved) audience. For biohacking - I might do something really simple along the lines of caffeine-free energy boosting ideas for work from home workers (solves clear problem, clear audience, and can easily expand upword into all sorts of categories).

      1. 1

that's pretty smart, because biohacking it is pretty broad

I've just released my UI design book that relies mostly on social media currently. I definitely need to up my SEO game and potentially release a free course/book as a stepping stone.

    https://www.practical-ui.com/

    1. 1

what was your solution for the tricky part??

      1. 1

The tricky part is what I'm still trying to figure out. I think I'll use the guidelines in my book to redesign examples. This will demonstrate the power of the book without giving away too much of it.

        1. 1

yeah that sounds like the practical solution

I know these videos are pretty high level (i.e., can't go too in-depth in 60 secs), so let me know any followup questions you have.

Also, FYI, there are content agencies that specialize in health content - and use nurses/doctors/etc to publish their content.

Happy to take a look! This is an interesting one - could you also tell me your top 2-3 competitors? I think a content gap approach could be the way to go here.

        1. 1

Just uploaded the video! Might take a few minutes to cross over to YouTube but I'll drop both links below:
          https://www.tiktok.com/@ramoswriter?lang=en
          https://www.youtube.com/@DavidRamosAuthor/shorts

Let me know if you have any followup questions!

          1. 1

this is awesome! Thank you so much!

The content gap approach seems clear to me but I was wondering what's the best way to market the gaps that I'm covering? Blogs don't seem like the right channel.

            What about TikTok?

            1. 1

Blogs are always a good place to start because it gives people a way to easily learn more about your product in a scannable way. Plus, the long-term ROI of written content is just so good (but obv I'm biased haha).

But if you want to commit to video, do YouTube. They're investing heavily in short form content + you'll benefit from the search traffic that TikTok doesn't quite have nailed down yet.

  88. 1

This is a really great idea! I've seen people grow their audience using reviews/suggestions so I think you are on the right track.

I've got a service called NumbersQ that allows business owners and marketers to pull in numbers from different services they are using and allows them to view all their numbers on a single page:
    https://www.numbersq.com/agraddy

I feel like any small business owner could benefit but right now I'm focusing on small businesses that sell physical products online. I've just released a WordPress plugin that allows the service to pull in numbers from WordPress / WooCommerce:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/numbersq/

I feel like the service could be beneficial to just about any online business so I've had a hard time trying to figure out content strategy so I'd definitely be interested in your thoughts.

    1. 2

Oh wow, this feels like one of those tools that with the right positioning could really take off. My initial look tells me we have a hurdle with semantics. "Numbers" is too general of a term, but I'm thinking language similar to metrics dashboard or business analytics might have some openings we could squeeze into. I'll let you know when the video is up!

      1. 1

That's a great thought on "Numbers" being too general. When you've worked on something it becomes obvious to you but it may not be obvious to other people who haven't worked on it daily.

I had thought about words like metrics and analytics from a targeting standpoint (trying to target people who are looking for those words) but I hadn't thought about using them more prominently in my marketing copy.

Thanks! I look forward to the video.

        1. 2

Happy to help! And I didn't mention this in the video, but "metrics" is definitely a better route to go than "analytics" after doing some research. Much less competition, so gaining a foothold there could be done - especially if you choose a niche that's actively looking for a solution.

          https://www.tiktok.com/@ramoswriter/video/7207484111869529386?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc&web_id=7101352355989784110

I know the videos I make are pretty broad (one downside of the 60 sec timecap haha), but if you have any followup questions - feel free to dm me on Twitter!

          1. 1

Last year my schedule got really crazy in the spring and I never got a chance to respond to this.

Thanks so much for the video and additional thoughts! The word "metrics" is the perfect description of what my service provides and for some reason I never thought of it (I was stuck on "numbers", "stats", "analytics" but never thought of "metrics").

It kind of all clicked when you explained your thoughts, and I've actually renamed my app to MetricRiv.com.

            Thanks again for the insight!

  89. 1

Maybe you can give me an idea how to come up with content. I only have one blog post so far. https://www.fluxparticle.com/xsdvisualizer/

Can I watch the video without the TikTok app?

    1. 1

Sure thing! I usually repost the videos on other platforms (Twitter, IG, YouTube) - so it'll be public on any of those.

Also, did you want me to give you a content strategy for all of FLUX Particle, or one of the specific tools/projects you have listed on the site?

      1. 1

Just for the XSD Visualizer, please.

        1. 1

          Video is up! https://www.tiktok.com/@ramoswriter/video/7207477670513265962?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc&web_id=7101352355989784110

Watching it back, I should have added a little more context in my second point. Essentially, if you use your tool to help people visualize other popular projects - they will want to use it for their own projects.

          1. 1

It seems the link doesnโ€™t work, can you share the YouTube link?

              1. 1

Thanks! What tool did you use the find that "viewer" has a higher search volume then "visualizer"?

Yes, I already did a vs article.

The second idea I also thought about but didn't find the right angle yet. I will look more into it.

                1. 1

I use Ahrefs and Semrush to find keyword data.

And for the VS articles - I would find as many comparable tools as you can. Don't stop with just one. The group will help build topical authority - which sends strong signals to search that your product is worth ranking.
