Looking for developer to partner up on SEA CPG directory
Hi everyone!
I have been more of a quiet “lurker” the past half a year at IH, it has made me a comfortable bystander but the posts I’ve been reading recently has stirred up a new motivation in me to pursue an idea I’ve been having for a while now.
CPG products are no longer a domain that the big boys get to dominate and play in. Great brands have sprung up over the years and the immense variety out there has spawned helpful CPG review sites and directories like Thingtesting (https://thingtesting.com/), CPGD (https://www.cpgd.xyz/) and The Fascination (https://thefascination.com/).
I am a fan of all these sites and love that they provide an avenue for people to seek out honest reviews before trying a product. This however is something that’s not available in my part of the world, Southeast Asia. The markets here are slowly warming up to DTC CPG brands and I believer there is now demand for a place to curate these products and their reviews. Of course, I am looking not to create a copy of these sites, but a version that’s better suited to the needs of the SEA market.
My background is in branding and marketing, mainly for tech companies and am looking for a technical expert who can help bring this platform to life. If this is something that interests you, I am open to partnering up or work out a paid engagement if that is preferred.

The SEA CPG directory idea is interesting — you're right that there's no real equivalent of something like Wirecutter or even a good product review aggregator for Southeast Asian brands. As DTC grows in markets like Indonesia, Philippines, and Thailand, having a curated discovery layer could be really valuable.
From a technical standpoint, this could start pretty lean — a well-structured directory with review aggregation and basic search/filtering. The key question is data: are you thinking user-generated reviews, pulling from existing platforms like Shopee/Lazada, or doing editorial curation?
I build MVPs for founders in exactly this position — domain expertise but need a technical partner to ship v1. Would love to hear more about how you're thinking about the initial scope. What does the smallest useful version look like to you?
