Looking for development mentor / tutor

Hi there. I'm an experience front end web developer with extensive experience in HTML, CSS, JS and wordpress. I have dabbled with react and some of the react frameworks for the last year, and now i want to solidify my knowledge, and learn how to build single page web applications.

The key functionalities of the web applications will be authentication, and then manipulating a database with the help of an API. Essentially i want users to be able to login, create posts, and have those posts appear throughout the site.

I'm looking for someone who i can pay to 'lessons' or sessions where they teach me how to get up and running.

Thanks!

Check out firebase, Tom. Unfortunately can't offer lessons. However, firebase makes auth, db, etc available as an API from your frontend code. Pricing is super approachable and I've had a great experience using it myself so far.

I can guide you and provide free courses with motivation from my side and my group of students, who already started.

    My concept is the following:

First have a study group to get us motivated 🙂

I found an awesome free course from Harvard with certificate!

    https://cs50.harvard.edu/x/2020/

I would really recommend it. I was doing it myself to refresh my knowledge. It covers basics of computer science, algorithms, C, Python, SQL

Doing it few hours a week without stress will take up to 12 weeks. But investing some more time it's possible to finish it faster.

And I am going to be there for you any time you need help and giving you some extra tasks.

Free plan includes free lectures of CS50x, study group, 1 group call a week, feedback in chat, 30 mins a week for each student with mentor 1-to-1. Extra time will cost extra.

If that sounds good for you there are 3 steps:

    1. First let's define your studying schedule, during which you going to watch lectures and do practice.

How many days per week would you like to dedicate for learning programming? Which days and which hours it's going to be. It's important to be consistent.

    1. I will add you to our Telegram group.

    2. You going to introduce yourself and start learning with-in your schedule. We are going to be there for you!

Once you come up with your schedule write me in Telegram: https://t.me/razbakov

I'm happy to get you going free of charge brotha, just pay it forward. My stack is C++/Python/AWS/Firebase Auth/Node.js/OpenGL/whatever-gets-the-job-done. I might not be able to dedicate super long sessions but if you are a self-starter then that should be more than enough to get you going. Let me know.

That sounds awesome! whats your react skills like?

      1. 1

My React skills are purposefully at 0%, wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. I'm proficient in Vue.js (currently giving Svelte some time to mature, then probably switching to it). If you're going with React then I'm probably not able to help you much. Cheers.

Ah sorry, you explicitly mentioned you were into React, I missed that bit. Best of luck. 💪🏼

Hi Tom -- what is your budget for lessons (per hour)?

It really depends on the mentor. Happy to pay as much as it costs.
