Looking for feedback for a Travel Website Idea
I've been a traveler and loves to travel around a country. But most of the time I found myself googling about a location, getting reviews of location, watching photos first and then flights and it goes on. This has been multiple processes for me.
Once this idea stuck to me, I'm building a website where without going through multiple processes you can just put a location on the search bar and we'll display customized list of most rated locations, their reviews, steps and suggestions to all the location how you can visit there from the traveler who earlier visited that place.
Would love to get your feedback on that.

It works for my use case and I frequently revisit it to find new places in the city I am in or planning to go.
There is definitely a lot of things that could be done to improve it and I'd be open on collaboration. To get a good position in SERP is hard as TripAdvisor has taken over everything and it is hard to compete. Seems to me that the main source of revenue may only be affiliates and ads.
Super cool! But the site takes so long to load. After 5 seconds of waiting I almost closed out because I thought the site was down.

I have a Headless chrome running in the server to fetch the ratings, and sometimes after finishing the crawl it keeps running and causes this slowdown.
What would you miss from a service like Tripadvisor?
I use NomadList for everything in travelling (planning, travel history and checking the location).
Although it's related to nomads a lot, so I'd love to have similar service but with for travellers, for example with data similar to WikiTravel (or any of https://www.nomadpick.com/collection/destination-guide/), but more structured.
In the future you can add cost of living, prices on the popular tourists things (SIM cards, Airbnb, transport rent)

Oh, sorry I didn't notice you're talking about location, but not cities. For me it would be useful to have cities, not the locations.
For locations, I'll go for Google Maps/Foursquare/TripAdvisor.
The problem with such ideas is to gather the information. It's really too much. But if you start from a small region, or from a specific niche you can succeed.

I use LonelyPlanet for the majority of the above. I find that it does a pretty good job highlighting underrated places.
Have you checked Nomadlist? It does work on the same idea. Analyse if you're trying to offer something. If you still feel about developing it then go ahead.
I use TripAdvisor and it addresses all the issues you mentioned.
