Hire Jr Devs is a job board focused on helping Jr developers find jobs easily 💻
It's super difficult to find jobs for junior devs which is why I decided to create this website.
I know it's difficult because I tried...many times.
The goal of the website is to make it extremely easy to find a job as a junior developer without having to waste time searching on huge job boards such as Indeed, SimplyHired, etc.
I haven't decided on the pricing yet, but I might do the following:
If you want to post a job, you will pay $30 which is
$1 per day -> $30 per month.
This pricing is not final and it might change in later versions.
By no means the project is a 100% complete.
Many things need fixing and I'm fixing them as I write this, but a fresh pair of eyes is always good to notice more things.
Btw, feel free to use the website and sign up to get the latest junior dev jobs.
Feel free to let me know what works, what doesn't, what you like, what you don't like, etc.
You can reach out to me on Twitter as well.
I'm not a fan of using a modal for viewing a post. From my experience, modals are not user-friendly when it comes to social sharing.
For instance, when you have 50 or more job posts and someone shares a particular post by copying and sharing the url, the person receiving the link won't land on the post they were looking for once they click on it.
Instead, they will have to do more than they should have to in order to find what they were looking for. In addition to this, I think modals are not SEO friendly.
In my opinion, each job post should open on its own page.
Very good point. Never thought of it like that . Second person who points out that modals are not good for SEO. I'm changing the modals for sure now.
Thanks for the feedback!
I agree with some of the advice from other commenters. One other thing I noticed – in the job posting text editor, there's an error message:
"The powerpaste premium plugin is not enabled on your API key."
You might want to fix or disable that.
Yes, I just fixed that. Thanks for pointing that out. I tend to forget sometimes lol
You're welcome. Good luck with the site!
Wanna partner up with me and pre-screen.dev so you can showcase prescreened developers to potential employers? Increases the value of your offer :)
Absolutely, let's talk. I just sent you a DM on Twitter.
Hey, hey! Congrats on the launch!
I was running a job board an year ago however it was focused on remote work.
Based on my research back then, I think you can raise your potential pricing. Majority of job boards charge about 3x your price and furthermore I think your niche has potential based on the fact that there are many cases where you need the right junior person to join your team.
Good luck with everything and don't underestimate the marketing!
You're right, I was comparing prices and other job boards charge a lot for posting. I just thought a low price will get more customers initially and then I could slowly increase the price or maybe do the current price for the first customers or something like that, but thinking about it now, I should increase 2x or 3x as you said.
Thanks for the feedback
First of all, cool domain!
I like the idea, but I do think that you should improve a few things:
Font. Try to use something developers will like. Maybe this thread can help: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=24968416
Colors: The site currently has only two jobs, but it doesn't feel clean and minimal because of the design and the colors you choose. Try to choose a different color combo. This tool can be useful:

Thank you for the feedback and the links. I'll take a look now.
Yes, the color palette was something I wasn't sure about tbh, but I'll use the coolors tool to see what I can come up with. I just didn't want it to be a dark color since almost most people use that one, just trying to be a bit different. I used that kind of yellow since it stands out as soon as you land on the website.
I don't know why, but the first thing that came to mind was that I didn't like the color scheme. The gradients are great but shades of green and yellow were not appealing
Noted, second person who says that. Color scheme is on top of my list now. Good feedback. Thanks
I run a job board for .NET devs - https://dotnetremote.com/
A couple of things I'd recommend from my experience...
You can gain some good SEO traction with job boards over time if you have relevant SEO pages. That means ditching your modals for job postings and making them dedicated pages with a combination of the job title and company name for the URL slug and h1/title tags.
Once you get a decent amount of jobs on your site, make pages for subcategories. For example, https://www.hirejrdevs.com/junior-react-jobs. Then only show junior react jobs on that page. This can scale to all kinds of stuff, like programming languages, locations, etc... I'd recommend using a keyword research tool to determine what subcategory pages you want to make.
Whoa!! You've done a great job with yours. Your job board is cool af.
Congrats 👍
Do you mind if I DM you? I followed you on Twitter, but I don't think you have your DMs open.
I would love to chat if possible, that'd help a lot.
Thanks
Yeah, I changed my Twitter settings. You should be able to DM me now!
It's a really great idea, but I have some doubts. Why should they choose your site when there is a free version?
I just wonder. I would be grateful if you explain it to me.
Btw, good luck on your journey :)
I think on most if not all job boards you have to pay to post jobs.
Btw it's paid only for companies, recruiters, or people who want to post a job.
If you're a developer, you can look at the jobs posted and even apply. Just like any other job board.
Could you name which site you were referring to as in free version? Maybe I'm misunderstanding the question lol
Thank you for answering!
I meant Linkedin, etc.
It's all clear now.
Good luck :)
Got it :) Thank YOU
