Hey everyone 👋 I’d love some feedback.
I’m working on an idea called CraftName - a small tool to help founders generate brandable startup names and instantly see domain availability.
The problem I’m trying to solve:
Naming takes forever.
You brainstorm - check domains - realize everything is taken - momentum dies.
Before building too much, I’m trying to validate the real friction:
If you’ve ever launched something - which one hits hardest?
Would love your thoughts 🙏
Not trying to replace creativity - just reduce wasted time switching between tools.
Multiple choices poll not possible?
While using apps to generate names, features to customize the names generated is missing in many apps.
For ex: I want a name, that starts with letter T or word Top and the suffix has the word domains in it. Most generators give simple search option that end up with some random names. When the user has no idea what they are looking for, it may help. But when the user is trying to find specific names most generators dont help.
Hey Azeniq, that's one of the hardest parts of shipping—congrats on getting to the naming stage! Choosing the right name is the first piece of copy a user encounters, and it's mission-critical.
I came over from a conversion copy perspective (I run Quratulain Creatives, specializing in fixing revenue leaks for SaaS founders), and I see a significant risk in your naming idea that impacts your conversion rate: The Cognitive Load Principle.
The Flaw (Diagnosis):
While your proposed name might be short and clever, if it is too abstract and doesn't communicate the category of the product immediately, it increases the user's cognitive load. A user's brain has to spend precious seconds trying to figure out what the name means and what the product does. This is unnecessary friction that leads to high bounce rates. Clarity always converts better than cleverness.
The High-Value Fix (Reciprocity Trigger):
If you love the name and want to keep it, you need to neutralize its ambiguity with extreme clarity immediately around it.
Your name is the vessel, but the tagline is the delivery mechanism for value. Use the tagline to guarantee instant clarity and eliminate the "what is this?" moment of friction.
Hope this high-leverage idea helps you capture more conversions! Keep building!
