Looking for feedback on my MVP. I am feeling stuck right now

I am a professional designer that has been working for more than 10 years. The story begins while I was in advertising, at that time I saw there is a lot of people who don't have design experience is struggling to create a simple blog post or social media post. Sometimes they just ask creative team / designer to do small stuff for them which is not very effective.

With that idea in mind, I try to build small tools to help people with zero design skills to be able to create simple blog post image / social media images using free stock images, text editor and simple image effect.

But after building this tool for a while, I feel like stuck and thinking that this tool doesn't enough value for users. So I am looking for feedback for you people, something to improve or anything.

This is the website https://opsin.app/designer

It seems to me, that image+text is declining because it is not search engine friendly and not easy to change. What about export as HTML or SVG or canvas? I'm thinking code that people can copy/paste into a blog post to have image and correctly placed text. If they ever want to change the text it's a simple matter of search and replace.

Thank you for the suggestion, it's a really good idea. I never thought before about SVG or HTML export. This could be place it as additional features for someone who are familiar with tech or dev.

I like the idea behind your app and after playing around with it for a few minutes, I created a post I was happy about. Anyways, it came to my mind that it is not possible to save a post and use it as a template for the next post.

Therefore, I have to go through the whole process of adjusting the post to my brand's style every single time. I think offering an account-based model is really adding value. Perhaps I can help you with thinking it through and maybe development as well. Let me know!

Awesome! Thank you for using the app and yes it's a valid feedback. Do you think is it necessary to have it right now when the product functionality is not mature yet? I happy to discuss with you but it seems like indie hacker doesn't have private message

Out of interest, how come you're feeling stuck? What's traffic etc like? When you've spoken to users, what has their feedback been?

I don't feel confident with the MVP and what would be the next step, the traffic is still low since I haven't publicly announce yet. The feedback is mixed, some people like the simplicity and some other looking more powerful features such as brightess and opacity for the image

      1. 3

That's all completely fair - working out what to do next with an MVP is typically very difficult...!

What I'd recommend first is to make clear what you're aiming for overall. Which, I assume, is getting to the product to a point where a significant percentage of first-time visitors convert to becoming regular users.

If that's the case, I'd first try to understand where you are now. Is that 1% of people? 20% of people? 50%? Whatever it is, try and understand that first.

After that, you're in the realm of getting feedback and iterating. Gather all the feedback you can, and look for the most common requests. If there's clear winners (such as opacity, like you mention), go for it - as long as it doesn't compromise the original vision for simplicity (assuming that's a winning formula).

Thank you @rcalvert, currently I am on the stage to compile all the feedback I can get from user. I wish to be able to push another update in the next few months. :)

I'm going to point out something that Noah Kagan talks about pretty regularly, and is something that I hope doesn't offend you:

Friends/family are the worst for refining a product: they're blindly supportive, they'll give you all sorts of suggestions that miss the mark, and they normally have no intention of becoming customers.

The second-worst are non-paying acquaintances. I say second because sometimes there's real gold there if you get someone who understands the market, has skills, and genuinely wants to help, but those are very hard to sort out from the rest.

The absolute best place to get feedback is from those of your ideal clients who have both the means and the willingness to pay.

Hey fam. It's awesome to see fellow people from advertising building great stuff. I think you have a solid tool. If you want to see how I'll test it in realtime, I’ll be more than happy to give you my detailed thoughts.

Me and my partner will be giving personal real-time feedback in a video chat for this whole week to help other founders.
Check out flounders.io for the details.
    Hope to see you there.

P.S.: Anyone who wants to get feedback is also welcomed 👍
