Looking for feedback on Ratesome - a social platform for expressing and discovering opinions
Hi,
The idea is this: You can create any topic you wish (almost any :)), say, "My new blue sweater" or "Donald Trump" and other people can express their opinions on the topic by clicking I HAVE A POSITIVE OPINION or I HAVE A NEGATIVE OPINION, next to your topic's name there is a number (can be positive, negative or 0) based on the expressed opinions indicating whether they like your blue sweater or not...

Maybe you didn't find a topic of your interest... I don't know your interests, but imagine, you are into NFL and a diehard Cowboys fan... Wouldn't you be (just a little bit) interested in seeing what rating your favorite team has?
This is just an example. You might be interested in politics... Isn't it curious to see opinions on some political figures?

Of course, a perfectly fine scenario that you're the type of person who doesn't really care about what other people think. In this case, yeah, Ratesome isn't for you.
I appreciate it that you made it multi-lingual to bring in a larger audience. The problem, for me anyway, is I don't see anything here to bring me back. It's very 1-dimensional and doesn't have the pull of something like reddit with all it's different topics and posting types.
I see Reddit being mentioned in every single discussion, but it's an absolutely different idea... Ratesome is a mixture of Q&A platforms and message boards...
As for "the pull", it really depends on what you like...
What's your opinion on Q&A platforms, you don't like them too?

Yea, I didn't mean to say you were going for a reddit clone, just how reddit has different things to pull you in. Bad example I guess. I go to QA like stack exchange and quora, but for information.
It's like cooking a dinner, what you made is fine, but it's missing that extra something that really makes you want to cook/eat it again :).
Maybe it's a large userbase?
Community sites/apps are the ones that are hugely dependent on the number of users...
Sites like YouTube are fine even when they have 3 users (as long as those users regularly post new videos), whereas in case of Ratesome when there are not a lot of opinions it doesn't inspire activity...
This already exists and they did a really damn good job of it. Cant remember the name but yeah, try find it.
No idea what product you're referring to, but I'm pretty sure there is a lot more than just one similar product... Just like there are tons of social media, search engines, image hostings , etc.

Yeah, sorry. Didn't mean to be a debbie downer. I just remember seeing it the other day and I really wish I could remember the name. They did a particularly neat job on the UX of it by weighting various opinions and such and representing it graphically in a way that you could clearly see which ideas had merit and which perhaps didn't.
