Hi all,
A while ago I moved on from my startup in mental health. We tried a few things different things which all yielded revenue but because we intended to grow a big, vc-funded business it was not enough. Whilst it was not a VC business (most likely) it's definitely a potential indie startup.
The segment which is the most promising for indie business, surprisingly, is B2B for us. We started as a B2C therapist marketplace and built a wide supply base (400+ therapists in the UK) and then moved on to sell "credits" to organizations in a self-serve way. This was the fastest-growing segment and we actually had to push back on clients. Ideally, it would grow with content / social presence, etc but there's a really strong demand from orgs for mental health and not a lot of flexible solutions (Uk at least). Hence a strong BD could make a killing. We got to £10k (gross) in 3 months.
The way that I look at it is there's no capital needed to create a product, there's proven traction and there's upside but requires the right profile.
