Looking for growth help - B2B content promotion tool

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for some indie advice for my company. We want to scale this year after several years of testing the platform, and I want to harness the power of the great communities I'm a part of, including this one :)

So, if you'll indulge me a bit, I'll provide some context.

I run a business called Converge. We help businesses promote their content to get more people seeing and engaging with it.

With organic reach diminishing all the time, and more and more noise being created every day, it's hard for businesses to get eyeballs on their content if they're not actively promoting it.

However, every year we're told in our Content Promotion Report, that marketers don't have enough time to do it (I'd argue it's a lack of priority and they should be creating less and promoting more, but hey ho).

Converge helps businesses in this situation.

We take the content and promote it every day via our partnerships with Newswires and syndication platforms like NewsNow UK & USA, Google and Bing. This is great for news stories, but also for thought leadership and opinion (as the latter can be promoted for longer - it has a greater shelf life).

We also promote the content consistently on social media, getting it into the right places and groups, using the right hashtags and doing it often to try and surface it in front of ideal audiences.

Finally, we share the content with relevant sources of influence (individuals or businesses) in the hope they'll share the content and promote it further.

So, as I see it (and we're told by current customers), we're doing several things businesses will see as a benefit:

  1. We're actually promoting their content - most of our members aren't doing much or any themselves, so we're the only ones making sure the content is getting out there consistently and effectively, thanks to the partnerships mentioned previously.
  2. We're saving them time. We asked our paying customers to share how much time they spend promoting content when they ever get round to doing any here and there and we're saving around 3.5 hours per week, per article. So it's significant over a year.
  3. They're getting an SEO boost - it's not the main benefit, but any articles that are accepted onto the site (we vet them all), do get a CTA backlink at the bottom of the article, so there is a small boost to organic search that each company gets.

So, articles are being seen and viewed more - the bare minimum that every article needs to do to ever achieve the goal it was created for.

We're being told that branded search volume is up for customers and that they're enjoying more engagement on social as well as more subscribers to email newsletters and, in some cases, even more customers (which is great, but we don't ever want to say we'll get you X customers if you use us - that's not the platform's goal and it relies too much on things we can't control, namely how effective the content submitted is at generating interest, and how good the company is at what they do - is their offer any good?)

We believe our ideal targets are content marketers (in house or freelance) and PR/Content/SEO agencies that handle the content for multiple clients.

The customers we do have love us - they've been using the site for a long time and churn is tiny. We've been listening to them for ages, testing various features, making improvements and we're finally in a place where we feel we could scale.

Here's our current landing page for more info

So, we've got some thoughts on this but I wanted to see what you guys could come up with. How do we grow this thing?

Really looking forward to seeing what you come up with, and any feedback on the platform, or landing page, is greatly appreciated and welcomed.

Thank you, all!

    Hi James,

I think you have a pretty good product in hands with a proven Product Market Fit. Growing your product by finding similar clients shouldn't be too hard for you.

As a start I would sort my existing clients based on revenue and try to find similarities between them. Are the biggest clients SEO agencies, content companies or PR companies? If it's just a mix I would then try to find out how they found out about you, as that seems to work. Do more of that ;-)

Next I would make a list of similar companies in the area and contact them and explain your concept and that you're looking for some new 'testing clients'. Obviously you're going to be converting them into paying clients.

These are just a few ideas that I come up with in a matter of seconds. I have much much more ;-)

    Cheers,
    Maarten
