Looking for help with running Google Ads

https://flexiple.com

We have been running Google Ads on Flexiple - https://flexiple.com for the past 2 months with mixed results.

Results

  • After optimizing for conversions, we did start to see more forms being filled for a week
  • However, suddenly over the past week, we have seen a sudden decrease in CTR
  • Quality scores were never too high (4 to 6), but we can assume they will fall further
  • One possible explanation was that we noticed our “Absolute top of page impressions %” decreasing quite a bit. While we did try to use the “Abs. Top of page bid %” strategy, that didn’t help too much

Problems to solve

  • Improve click-through and QS overall
  • Establish a process to evaluate progress on a daily level

You don't need a google ads expert... :)

You want someone who can help you create more funnels.

"Get started now" to me is: I'm going to be guided through the process. Flexiple will explain the process first. Give me some case studies. Rates. How it works. Then, when I'm ready to proceed, I'll fill in a form because I know what I'll get...

You pushing too much on the conversion.

Go though the customer journey a couple of times. What do people want to know before they hire someone?

Create different funnels fore different people.

    A funnel for:

    • People who might hire someone in the next year
    • People who want to hire someone right now (Show them how many people they could hire RIGHT NOW) and what it costs

      Really appreciate the thoughts!

I have added it to the top of the list I have to work on conversions. The major bottleneck here is the number of clicks we are getting. I could get working on improving the flow for different users once I have more clicks.

ATM, 3 out of 5 leads are filling out the form OR sharing their email ids with us. The problem is the low CTR of 1% on 500+ impressions everyday.

One way I have thought of is to change the keywords we are bidding on (might help with targeting people with higher intent) and ensure we stay in the top 2 ads.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this plan of action :)

What keywords are you targeting? 500 impressions a day is not much, but if you can't spend a lot on acquisition it might be a wise choice.

Bidding more is a strategy, but making the ads more "clickable" is usually the better choice. Make your ads more relevant. Add sitelinks. Etc.

        1. 1

Hey Yannick, we are primarily high-intent keywords such as "hire freelancer engineer" etc and targeting specific geographies and are getting a CPC of $30-$35.

To increase the # of impressions, we intend to use "alternatives to XYZ" keywords. The assumption is that these would be higher intent as they would further along in the buying cycle.

Actually, we are absolute top of page ~30% of time consistently and top of page ~90%. From this, I am inferring that the ad is relevant and sitelinks are getting displayed when we are absolute top of page.

All this has led us to think that experiment with more keywords and spreading our monthly budget of $5000 (of which we are spending only 50-60% on an average) and then work on optimizing it first for clicks, then for conversions.

What has your experience on Google Ads?

          1. 1

You are bidding too much if I look at your numbers.

Increase the number of keywords. Alternatives could be a very good one! Make sure you have matching landing pages. Don't let them land on your homepage for those queries.

            1. 1

The competitor's stats indicate that the bid amount are usually this high. Any thoughts on how we can reduce them though?

And absolutely. Don't want to spend $30 each and have folks not convert. We have specific landing pages for each keyword and are building more for new keywords.

                Raise CTR :)

Make a Unicorn ad. Focus on Emotion rather than Features.

                  Hey @YannickVeys, missed this message.

What exactly do you mean by making a Unicorn ad?

Also, any specific suggestions you might have for the page copy: https://www.flexiple.com/hire-freelance-developers

                    1. 2

Emotion is a big factor in creating unicorn ads. Not all ads are created equal.

                    2. 1

Makes sense. I think emotion is something I think we need to work on.

We want the readers to feel that they cannot wait to build their product with the talent we have available. Do you feel that while looking at the page?

Hi cosbgn, would really love to speak with you. Would you mind if I take you up on the offer in a couple of weeks time as currently I am running a couple of experiments which would take some time? Once I have the results for them, I will definitely drop you a line :) Thank you.
