Looking for honest feedback on my HIPAA compliance landing page

Hey Indie Hackers đź‘‹

I’m building CompliAssistant, an AI-powered HIPAA compliance assistant for small businesses that are overwhelmed by audits, policies, and paperwork.

The idea is to make HIPAA compliance feel less like a legal nightmare — and more like checking a few boxes with smart AI help.

I’d love your feedback on the landing page:
👉 compliassistant.com

Specific things I’d love help with:

Does the value prop come across clearly within the first 10 seconds?

Would you trust an AI compliance tool based on this page?

What would make you more likely to join the waitlist?

Any honest feedback is massively appreciated. I’m also happy to return the favor on your page!

Here is some feedback on your page. starting with your questions:

Does the value prop come across clearly within the first 10 seconds?

Yes, but think the val prop itself could be strengthened. It's sort of generic for your product category. Just about any HIPAA compliance solution can make those claims. What makes yours different/better? When thinking of this, consider your target audience. Are you going after people who are unsatisfied with what they currently have and are looking to switch? Businesses with no current solution? Some specific niche within the small business healthcare space? The motivations and pain points will be a bit different for each.

Would you trust an AI compliance tool based on this page?

Personally, no I wouldn't. I'm probably more skeptical of AI than most, but even so with something as important as compliance I think most people would want more assurance and proof. It would help to spell out the details a bit more. It's not immediately clear how this would fit into the business's operations. What type of documentations are you referring to? What are the checklists and how are they used? Are there screen shots or other product in use images you could show?

If you have any statistics, testimonials, references, safeguards or guarantees related to the accuracy of the AI, that would help build trust.

What would make you more likely to join the waitlist?

First, I think you need to hone in a real pain point or emotional driver that is important to your target audience.

Next, you should get a bit more specific. For instance, you mention save hours every week. How specifically? Make the reader feel the pain of that time and help them picture how it will be different.

Also, as mentioned above, add some assurances or at least build some more credibility around the solution.

Finally, give a reason for getting early access. Make an offer that's hard to refuse. Is it free or at a reduced rate? Will they get refunded if they don't like it? Is there personalized service that won't be available later?

Here are some other suggestions based on best practices:

    • I would change to dark text on a light background instead of everything reversed out because it's easier to read.

    • You should get a CTA in the hero section so that people know up front what the offer is and what you want them to do. I would also add one at the end. too. Typically, the more you add to a form, the more response drops. If you do need all of that up front, you may want to consider breaking it into steps so it's not as intimidating.

    • It's very text heavy. You might want to break it up with images or other design features. That would also add some visual interest. I would also explore some alternate image options for the hero area. Maybe there is something that more immediately represents the product and/or benefits?

    Hope that helps.

Thank you so much, Sean — this is incredibly thoughtful and valuable feedback.

You’re absolutely right that the current landing page is too generic. We’ve been so focused on making something easy for small businesses that we didn’t clearly communicate how it’s different or why it’s trustworthy — especially in such a sensitive space like HIPAA compliance.

To answer your question: our goal is to support small U.S. healthcare providers with no existing solution — usually overwhelmed by compliance, audits, or documentation they don’t fully understand. Most aren't switching from another platform — they're either doing it manually or not at all.

You're also right about trust. This week, I’m adding more clarity around:

What the AI actually does (e.g. reviewing real policies, building audit-ready checklists, training logs, incident reports)

What businesses can expect (e.g. "Save 3–5 hours/week preparing for HIPAA audits by automating [specific task]")

Screenshots of the product and proof it's already been piloted

A clearer reason to join the waitlist early (e.g. lifetime deal for early users, human support, etc.)

I also really appreciate the design/UI suggestions — I’ll experiment with light backgrounds and step-by-step forms to make it more inviting.

If you're open to it, I'd love to give you early access once the next version is ready — no pressure at all, but your feedback would be invaluable.

        Glad it was helpful.

I appreciate the offer for the early access, however, I'm not your target audience. While I do have experience in the healthcare space, it's as a marketing creative, so I don't know how relevant my feedback would be on the actual product.

Thanks for the thoughtful response, Sean — totally understand, and I appreciate your honesty.

Even though you're not the target user, your background in healthcare marketing still gives you a unique lens on how these kinds of tools should communicate value — especially in a space as trust-sensitive as compliance. So if anything about the positioning or messaging ever stands out (good or bad), I’d genuinely value that kind of feedback.

Either way, really appreciate you taking the time, and if anyone in your network could benefit, feel free to send them our way!
