Looking for new product ideas for a list of 50k leads interested in productivity

Hello!

I have a list of 50k people who are interested in productivity and task management. Around 15k people from that list has bought a software solution from us in the past.

I am trying to create a new relationship based on a new product. I'd like to start small, test ideas quickly and find something that solves a real customer need.

My business partner who was the product manager and marketing guru has left and although I thought I understood how to build something valuable and how to sell, I really don't. I somehow cannot focus on the right thing.

I thought I had this substantial head start thanks to our many years running a mildly successful business, but I experienced a repetitive failure that finally got me realizing I was missing fundamentals.

Recently, just before I was ready to give up, I started looking for a community that would be aligned with what I am trying to do and willing to help, discuss... I've found you :). I'd appreciate any help or angle on this.

My suggestion is to give them 1-hour consultancies for free to solve any problem they want (productivity and task management)

If you don't have a very solid email marketing experience, definitely don't blast the 50K people all at once... chances are you'll cause more damage to the relationship.. even if they don't unsubscribe.. they'll mentally tag you as irrelevant.

What I recommend is you play with smaller segments first.. 1000 to 2000. (it depends on how engaged the list is.. for example.. if they were SUPER engaged.. you may only need to email 500 people.)

    What to email them?

Look at your CRM and examine the history of your most opened and clicked through emails...

Also examine any replies you've gotten in the past.

To get a more solid idea of who they are and what they want.

Once you gain a deeper understanding of your list...

Narrow your product ideas to 2-3..

Then craft 2-3 emails and send each to a different segment of say 3000. (no overlap)

The email will be an announcement that you've got project X in the works... and you're asking them... "Hey, would this be interesting for you to test out? Click here and you'll be added to a VIP beta testers list." Or instead of a click, ask them to shoot you a reply saying YES or something.. just for you to validate whether people actually care or not.

And yeah.. see which one clicks more with your list.

(Also if you're really struggling to come up with something they'd like.. why don't you run an ASK funnel? -- just google Ryan Levesque ASK funnel).

    Hope this helps you!

You have the list, email them. Ask what problems they want solving with this niche.

    Hey there,

I'm working on an app (Android, iOS and web) in the productivity space. I'm about a month away from launching a version with decent UX and the most highly requested features, but I've got a significant portion of the product working and I'm dogfooding it every day and I have a few beta testers lined up for the Android app.

That list sounds pretty epic. We could potentially do a profit sharing arrangement?

You don't have any contact details listed on your profile. Can you you send me an email at james@tayler.io ?
