Looking for technical advice on a new project

Here are some of the designs:

The concept is that you get to post a question or instant advice.

Once you post advice, and the fellow you're advising likes it, you get 1 point. Keep up giving great advice to

    So here's my 'instant advice':

    1. The text in your mock-up tries to be "funny" by describing an exaggerated and fictional situation. This completely detracts from your goal, which is to get feedback on your concept. It's bad because it doesn't represent a typical "request for advice" you would expect people to post on your app, or is it? I was left to wonder whether the app is serious or a place to joke around and get other people to respond with a funny comeback.
    2. The 'button' at the button is "fully part of" the enclosing box. I thought this made things unclear: is this a 'title' representing the state of the content? Or is it an 'action'? (I guess that's what it is, but it's a tiny bit confusing.) I think if it would ressemble more like a "button" that stands on its own it would make things more obvious. Not saying my idea is bright but just to let you know what I mean, you could have a title add the top of your widget that identifies "Question" and "Answer", then down there you would also have a "give advice" or "answer" button, and also a "see answers"?? I'm unclear how you get to see the answers other people post. Or maybe we don't get to see them? It would feel like a vacuum then, not good for encouraging interactions.
    3. To conclude, your mockup isn't clear. There's no mock-up of an actual "advice" and what it would look like. I suggest you make the mockup more complete, including getting multiple 'advice' to a question and how that looks like, as well as whether you can 'answer' to the advice given, etc...

Thank you so much for your super detailed feedback - looking forward to seeing some more on the new version!

you're gonna have the dreaded "chicken-and-egg" problem. I suggest starting out with a TON of content focused on the giving-advice side. Then share that stuff on the usual suspects: quora, reddit, book of faces, etc. Do that for a while to get your SEO juices flowing and then start converting that traffic into users of your product.

Nope. Won't have that problem. All we need is two users - one asking for advice, and one willing to give advice and the platform will work. There isn't a huge network requirement, it's more of a game (I think).

https://www.indiehackers.com/post/bd1bca3773 is an update to the post. Please do offer more feedback if possible! Thanks!

I actually googled "book of faces" to see if that was a new thing -.- You got me, sir.

Instead of building a product, I would suggest validating this idea. Try using google forms to get questions. Create a fb group or similar. Post the question on that group. Keep a tally of scores and post that too on the group. Allow people to advise on the comments section. See how many people are interested, if you can get a few hundred followers to the group, you know you are onto something. If not, you have so much resources/time that will go in building the product.
