Looking for your inputs for Remote Work 2020
Hey guys,
We are launching an ambitious project - the "Remote Work 2020" report!
This report will include the results of the survey conducted with remote workers. We will also be publishing a guide tackling the most-discussed topics in the field of remote working. This guide will draw from our learnings gained through podcasts with the likes of Gitlab, Invision, Hubstaff, Scrapinghub and FlexJobs, as well as experiences shared with us by successful remote workers (detailed outline below)!
Wanted your help in making the report better - please share the survey with remote workers you know (and of course, fill it yourself, if you are one too :-)). Best question: would you recommend remote work to another person?
It totally depends on their personality; some folks will crush it. Others will have a really hard time.
Sure some of that has to do with motivation and focus, but the hardest part is getting out of the house for mental and emotional health.
As a remote working friend of mine told me: step out of your house each day even if for just 60 seconds of fresh air.
Super point @calebmpeterson! I had initially kept only Yes or No as options. Then Scott from Invision suggested that I add "It depends" and that's when it struck me too! It just so depends on the personality of the individual.

One interesting thread about remote work, is how to land a suitable position.
Although remote work, at least in engineering, has become more common, there seem to remain a lack of trust from candidates who just show up out of nowhere. The entire hiring pipeline is inadequate. Cross border paid work is expensive and difficult to put in place, near impossible for small organisations.
Websites keep popping up that act as simple jobs boards for remote positions, but they aren't tacking the recruitment problem.
Upwork and Co are just middlemen platform juicing the income and eventually becomes ebays for human resource.

Very interesting @jeandelarue2002. I agree this is a very important problem to solve.
