Hi!
PDFShift is a service I built around four years ago that grew to reach about 7,600$ MRR.
It has small but constant growth and a very light work requirement: I receive around 10 support requests per week. The service is hosted at AWS with auto-scaling features that make it fully automated.
I believe it can be grown even bigger, either via marketing strategies, new features, horizontal or vertical expansions, but I don't have the power right now to work on these.
I've been thinking a lot about it, and I think one interesting strategy would be to accept someone that is eager to work fully on PDFShift, grow it and take a cut from the gained growth.
If you were to be selected, you'd be responsible to work on the decided strategies for growth and answer the support requests. This means you need to have a good understanding of how the code works (it's in Python) and be at ease with various programming languages.
You also need to have a history of successful launches with self-made revenues, to prove that you know the struggle and still stay motivated.
If that's something that interests you, please reach out to me with some strategies you plan to implement. Your revenues will be based on the growth, split equally (50/50) ; the better the growth, the better for both of us. I'm asking these to rule out those who are just in for the money.
Hopefully this will be the beginning of a long partnership that will be beneficial to both of us!
(I'm happy to answer any questions in the comments!)
That's a great idea on paper, but aren't you worried about the time you'll need to invest to train, nurture and retain your newly hired manager? You'll definitely have a bit of overhead here because that person won't be able to hit the ground running from the first day — any plans on how to mitigate that? I'm curious!
My thinking is to invest some time now in the hope to gain time in the future. Of course, this works if the partnership works out ;)
In case someone wonders why IH says 9,000$ when I'm saying 7,600$: It's because IH gives the last 30 days revenues, and December was a great month. But if you take the average of the last three month, you'll end up at 7230$.
Stripe is saying 7,600$ ;)
