Hi IH,
I’ve just built and gone live with https://languageops.com. I’m looking to validate the idea and bring on some beta customers. I went and built before validating as I’ve been watching the proliferation of pro-content services, growth and trust in productized services, and have done many translations of this sort in my ~15 years as a freelance translator and PM.
It’s an extension of my translation business, streamlining the process and focusing on one specific area: web/content translation. With a focus on SEO and conversion. Being found and bought, but in new markets.
Businesses with working content strategies that want to replicate the success in new markets.
The translation industry is highly fragmented, yet sizable, with poor communication around best practices. All the crowd and self-serve platforms offer low quality output you wouldn’t want your native market customers reading, think GPT-3 or AI imagery output. It’s just off enough to erode all trust.
With a personal service, covering everything you’d need, I think Language Ops should fit the bill for many site owners. And all for less than the price of one FT employee.
We’re up against freelancers, translation agencies, crowd and DIY platforms, the whole gamut. I don’t intend to compete in the same spaces as those, however, focusing my efforts on retainers with content agencies, buyer intent search content of my own and various communities such as this one.
I don’t need 100s of customers to make this take off, just a handful and I can go full-time on it. Once a sales process starts to establish I’ll look at hiring out various parts of the process to allow me to step back and do bigger picture stuff.
To reach people I’ll do a lot of manual work. Content and “engineering as marketing” publishing, question answering, community posts etc. and see what signs are like in first few months.
Look forward to seeing your thoughts and feedback.
Thanks for reading,
Luke
