Made c. $100,000 helping IT Teams Load Test

Many companies are asking employees to work from home during Corona virus. When employees work from home they access the company IT infrastructure via Internet. IT teams at most small companies (less than 200 employees) don't have the technical know how to migrate the consumption of IT infrastructure from LAN to Internet. In a nutshell this is the opportunity that landed in our laps.

A design firm in Mumbai was preparing for their employees working from home. Their IT team was facing many hurdles. One problem they were facing was load testing. The company got in touch with me via a common connection.

We (my friend and I) helped automate load testing over Internet. We also helped them configure their servers and internal services to be consumed over Internet. We completed this project in 3 days and thought that this would be the end of it. We charged the company Rs 500,000 (~ $7000) and they were more than happy to pay this amount which is steep by Indian standards.

The next day we got calls from two more companies for the same service. Over the last 15 days we have worked with 14 companies and made a cool $98,000 dollars. We hired freelancers to share our load. This cost us about $8,000.
