Made landing page with waitlist, but how to generate traffic?

Hey, community!

Last month of year is here and lets make it count.

But about the topic, i'm wondering, what in your opinion is better approach for new idea/app?

  • Create landing page with waitlist? (less time of course)
  • Ceate MVP of app and try to get any users to use it?

And if you create waitlist, how do you advetise it? Where do you have found you first waitlist users?
And share you opinion:

  • How long should waitlist be active?
  • How many users you collect before developing v1 of the app?

So why i'm asking all of this?
Well, this year i have developed 4 apps, and i still don't have answer, and i would like to know the experience from others.

I have pubished MVP, i have pubished waitlist, but i think i have got bad marketing skills, so i need to know your opinions 😅

P.S. Newest app is https://apidocs.me - Transform and sync your Notion content to API Docs in minutes. I think developers should be excited for this, because API Docs at least for me always has not been most exciting task.

    Hi @edev

    • I think you should talk with your ideal customers first before you actually build it. If they like it, then go with landing page and create a waitlist. Then work on a bit frequent marketing about your progress on development of MVP.

    • To find ideal customers you can first define your target audience, their preferable social platform where they most available, communicate with them, help and share value first before you even think to ask for a help. SO, it becomes easy to get their attention.

    • When you define your audience, then first their email address and reach out to them to give a try on your tool, or waitlist, however as I said, focus on WHY. Why they will trust you and how your product solves their issue.

See, people are busy on their own, so first make stuff clear and then reach out. make email more personalized or hire outreach expert who can help to make your job easier, even you can use GPT if you know the good prompts.

Hope this will help. Let me know in case anything is not clear with you.
