Made some changes to the landing page

Hey Indie Hackers!

I'm looking for some feedback on some new changes I added to the homepage:

https://adsoup.co

The most notable change is the ability to see the number of impressions products on adsoup are receiving. My hope is that this will help people understand what the platform does, and encourage them to add their own products.

What else would you change?

I've also updated the FAQ with a note about our stance on privacy.

Thanks for your feedback!  🍜

    I like the minimal style.

How are you generating the impressions? Is this a competitor to producthunt ?

      Thanks for your feedback!

It's not quite a competitor to Product Hunt. Impressions are generated organically - you add the code to your website, and it displays a product that has been added to adsoup. In turn, your product will show up on other people's website.

        Ah, so it’s like carbonads.

Sites exchange product placement for each other. I guess you make money by promoted placements. Makes sense.

Sort of — Carbon Ads is more of a traditional advertising platform where advertisers pay publishers to display their creatives. Here the only currency exchanged is "views", so everyone is helping each other.

Of course, the natural progression is to sell premium placements to advertisers who don't want to add the ad unit to their website.

    Hi James! A few thoughts:

    • I quite like the minimalist style and especially the illustrated soup bowl.
    • if "privacy conscious" is kind of a big deal here, then I think you should give that more attention. You cover it a little in the FAQ, but I think I'd make it more prominent. And perhaps go even further explaining why privacy matters, bad practices elsewhere, and how dedicated Adsoup is to this commitment
    • I think I'd leave "formidable" out of your service description. Personally, adjectives like that kinda slow down my understanding
    • I think some of this needs to be spelled out even more, especially for anyone not immediately familiar with "impressions," "ad units" or "publishers." Those may be a little esoteric. In particular, this line could use some ELI5 language: "As you generate impressions, your product receives impressions from other publishers"
    • I didn't see any ad units on the two "recently added" sites. That would've provided some validation.
    • showing the impressions of recently added products is a brilliant idea

      Thanks for the detailed feedback!

I'll definitely work on the copy, and adjust the wording to target a more general audience. Perhaps a diagram or visual aid might help here.

      Cheers!
