π hi everyone! I'm working on a new copy for annotate.tv.
A few days ago I came with Accelerate your learning on YouTube. I really liked it but then I started thinking it's not 100% accurate because you can use AnnotateTV to share notes about your own videos too. E.g if you are a professor. So I was thinking about doing something like this:

Do you like it? Does it make sense?
Any feedback will be appreciated π
I think it's a good idea to make it dynamic, but if you do it, you should change the "subtitle" as well.
I suppose that if you are sharing your own notes, you are not getting important takeaways anymore.
I agree the subhead should be revised in that case.
How about: "Capture the most important takeaways from any video using timestamped notes." [Period added. With no period the students may feel more comfortable but the teachers may feel less trusting. It's a choice!]
Also I would boost the font size a bit relative to the headline.
How about making the subheading also dynamic?
It's a cool idea but you risk elements resizing on mobile!
So make the timing slower, change the word in the heading every 5 seconds and when you change it, replace the whole subheading with a new sentence.
Thanks for the feedback you guys. Yeah, it makes sense to change the subhead too. I like
_Capture_ the most important.... Thanks!Hey @matiastucci,
A couple of thoughts:
I wouldn't do the animated switching between two contexts for a few reasons.
Overall, I'm not sure the benefit is being conveyed accurately. I watch tutorial videos on YouTube and I've never really wished I could learn faster on YouTube. I've often felt like I could just skip to the "good stuff", those key aha moments that are really at the heart of a video.
I would use your product to notate those key moments so that I could either come back to them or share those moments with others, without having to drudge back through the rest of the video.
I'd go for a benefit that is very clear to your ideal customer. Using my thoughts above (I may not be your ideal customer), I'd go with something like the following:
"Get straight to the important parts of YouTube videos"
(subhead) "Take notes on the best moments in each video, save them, export them and share them with friends"
If you know the conversational tone of your customers, you could write copy to match that tone.
Right now, I think your subhead is doing the best work between the two.
On a side note, I went into the Demo and couldn't annotate anything. I was hoping to use it to get some ideas on how I would feel using it as a customer.
Hope that helps give some ideas. Good Luck!
Hi!
You are totally right about the distraction. Didn't think about that π
What do you think if I use "Optimize" instead of "Accelerate"? So: "Optimize your learning on YouTube"
You are the second person that thought that the demo was going to be interactive to take notes. Maybe I can do that. I'll check how much effort it would be.
thanks for the feedback π
I like that you're trying to get the benefit up front, but I think it could use a bit of refinement.
I don't think its entirely clear because there isn't enough context. Perhaps you could make it more specific. I'd also try to make it a bit more conversational. Does your audience speak about wanting to accelerate learning or is it more about learning faster? It may seem like just semantics, but it makes a difference.
I think the latter hits a bit more on the pain point as well, which works better to hook potential users in. You could also try to illicit some sort of emotion for your hook.
Finally, I'm not sure that the rest of the page pays off that headline directly enough. Don't leave it to users to connect the dots, because many won't bother.
Best of luck.
Yeah, that makes sense...
What do you think if I use "Optimize" or "Improve" instead of "Accelerate"? So: "Optimize your learning on YouTube"
I think that has a lot of the same issues as "accelerate." I know what the word means, but I'm not sure how it applies to the product. It's hard to picture that in my head.
Instead of just trying to think of a synonym, I would explore new options all together. Perhaps start with the pain point your solving or your differentiator and think about what it means in a concrete way.
For instance, off the top of my head, if your research shows the big pain point is the time involved in video learning, you could have something like: "Spend less time looking and more time learning" or "Create Cliffs Notes for YouTube Videos"
Those would need refining, of course, but it should give you an idea.
Yeah, you're right. I like "Spend less time looking and more time learning" a lot. Also that got me thinking something like this: "Maximize your learning on YouTube". Thanks!
It's a great idea, but for SEO purpose it kinda deprecates value, if that is your point you should stick to one versatile one.
Yeah, didn't think about that before. I'll keep it in mind. Thanks!
That's pretty nice to me actually. And the animation is just right, not too much and great colors too.
I'm actually wanting to make my headline better, I wonder if you've any advice? @matiastucci
looks nice! The advice I always read is that the headline should be the value that the user is going to get when using your product. Not a description of your product.
So, in my case for example. My first headline was "Annotate YouTube videos" but then I changed it for this "Accelerate your learning on YouTube".
Would that affect your SEO if the important keywords is augmented by code?
Hmmm, that's true. I'm not sure π€
Awesome product idea π I got it straight away.
Am not sure why but my heading doesn't cycle like in your video:
Why are "Accelerate" and "learning"/"teaching" emphasised in blue?
oh, yeah. That gif is something I was trying on my machine. Is not live yet :)
