Make over $30k/mo using WhatsApp

WhatsApp has 3 billion monthly users, and many use it to shop. Many indie hackers are monetizing this trend.

WhatsApp has 3 billion monthly active users.

People don't just use WhatsApp to talk to each other; they use WhatsApp to shop.

According to Statista, over 70% of people in most Latin American countries used WhatsApp in their purchasing process.

Despite all this, I haven't seen a lot of indie hackers build on top of WhatsApp.

This made me think... Can I find any successful examples of indie founders who built products based on WhatsApp?

I went through the Products directory, read through interviews with successful founders and researched sites-for-sale that mention "WhatsApp" in their names.

The results were pretty interesting.

Here are the successful products I found that are based on WhatsApp (based on categories):

WhatsApp Outbound Sales

I found 3 successful products that provide you with a way to send WhatsApp messages in bulk.

WASender is a Chrome extension that allows you to send personalized, bulk messages using WhatsApp Web. They're doing $30k/mo.

I've also seen 2 sites for sale that do the same. One was selling for over $100k+ and was doing $3k+/mo:

According to the description, the app "provides a simple and fast way to schedule messages on WhatsApp, facilitating access via WhatsApp Desktop by QR Code, and offering message scheduler, automation, and import features for businesses to automate booking confirmations easily, send appointment reminders, request post-appointment reviews, and tailor promotions to customers."

Create business chat links

ChatWith ($32k/mo) is a web app that allows you to create "free, easy-to-use WhatsApp link for your business.".

Some products have taken this exact idea and ported it to other platforms.

SuperLemon ($29k/mo) is an app for Shopify. It does pretty much the same as ChatWith; it allows you to add a WhatsApp chat button to your Shopify store.

According to their landing page, they have over 65,000 merchants who are using them.

This free tool has over 1.2 million monthly visitors, according to SimilarWeb. They also have a premium offer (I don't have publicly available data on their MRR, but my guess is that it's more than the 2 tools that I mentioned above):

Convert text to another format

While doing my research, I saw this WhatsApp bot that was for sale and allowed you to automatically transcribe voice notes:

wh

According to the description, "users who receive voice notes and prefer not to listen can forward the audio message to our bot within WhatsApp and receive a text transcription within seconds.

There was also another bot that provided the same service and doing $1k/mo.

So there you have it, a few ideas on what you could build on top on WhatsApp as a solo founder.
