Many Opens, No Conversions: Day #7 Update for 14 Products in 14 Days

| TLDR: ||
Getting ready for product test #2, #3, and #4. Going to push them out a LOT quicker than the first launch.
I'm struggling to get conversions from cold outreach on product #1. Great open rate, not buys yet, although I got one inquiry!
I've got the process of "landing page up ~ leads in ~ cold mail out" down pretty well.

|| Welcome Back: ||
Hey, all! I have been posting updates on my product discovery project "14 Products in 14 Days" for the past week. If you want a recap of what has happened so far, skip to the bottom of this post.

It's day #7 of the Sprint! Whohoo!

|| Update 1: Need to Figure Out How to Get Conversions for Product #1 ||
With the crazy open rates (47.83% opened and 39.13% opened more than once for the first set of 25 emails, 33.33% opened and 18.52% opened more than once for the second set of emails) I'm feeling pretty confident that there is some money to be made selling specifically real estate agents virtual assistant services.

A mistake I made on the second round of outreach - due to an alias error in Gmail, I accidentally sent the outreach from a personal burner email as opposed to the PeopleHat email. That definitely reduced interaction, but still didn't have too much of an impact on open rates surprisingly.

I think I could have gotten better responses from set 2 had I not made that mistake. For set 2 I tested two different email titles and three different offerings: "2 day free trial", "June special: 2 day free trial", and "2 day free trial with a free expert consultation on optimizing your VA relationship". I didn't get many post-open interactions, so not sure which had the best resonation with the audience. I'm going to keep testing these out, since this last test was kind of a dud with the whole email mistake.

I got one email reply from the second round asking a few questions. Currently in discussion with the gentleman. Hopefully, he buys!

I calculated that I can generate about 2 leads per minute (for real estate - phone numbers and emails are everywhere), and real estate agents are very likely to have legit emails listed online - the bounce rate was 4 out of 50 emails. This means I can keep testing this out without much effort. The thing I need to work on is figuring out how to best get people to buy off of the email they opened 7 times!!!

Considering doing phone outreach to the folks with high open rates.
Also considering doing different kinds of offerings (instead of "free trial", perhaps "free consultation"?)

Any thoughts, guys?

|| Update 2: Getting Other Launches Rolling ||

I'm building landing pages for the following test projects now:
Graphic Design Subscription
Landing Pages Subscription
Sales Copy Subscription

I took a ton of time (3 days) on prep work for the first project because I had to do server setup and stuff, but this time I'm basically just creating variants of the first landing page for all of the subsequent tests. Should be able to plow through these a lot quicker.

That's all for now! If you are trying to figure out what to build and want to join me in my experimentation, read the first post to get a feel for the process. Let's test the markets together!

Cheers!

Kirsten

14 Products in 14 Days is my way of testing out a Product Development Sprint that I developed to help me ID a product/service that I'll be able to ship and use as a side revenue stream. I'm testing it out now - if it works, y'all should give it a try! The core intent of this systematized approach to product development is to force the founder to focus on placing a product in a proven market with a powerful need to create a sustainable company. Too many times we get drawn into working on a product that DOES NOT fit a market need, just because we think the product is a really good idea. I have a problem with this as well, so I created this sprint to help me overcome it and build something real.
