Hey everyone,
βI just did a brutally honest exercise. I took a whiteboard and mapped out what triggers my "Happy Brain" vs. my "Sad Brain" when it comes to my work.
βMy "Happy Brain" is fueled by small wins: β¨
ββ
Getting a single positive reply to an outreach message.
ββ
Someone saying "thank you" for a suggestion.
ββ
My gut feeling telling me I'm on the right track.
βMy "Sad Brain" gets crushed by silence: π
ββ Posting something and getting no response.
ββ Giving a suggestion and getting ghosted.
ββ The wave of self-doubt that comes from a lack of external validation.
βThe pattern was staring me in the face: My entire sense of confidence was on a rollercoaster I couldn't control. My mood was 100% tied to other people's reactions.
βSo I'm trying a new system. The rule is simple: The action is the win, not the outcome.
β’β Did I write the helpful comment? That's a win. β
ββ’ Did I trust my gut and do the task? That's a win. β
ββ’ Did I stick to the process for the day? That's the biggest win. π
β
I'm shifting my focus from the reaction to the action. It already feels more sustainable.
βDoes anyone else relate to this? How do you manage the emotional rollercoaster of being a founder? π
