Hello hackers!
I have a blog at https://florin-pop.com and I was wondering what else can I do to grow the traffic on my blog?
As of now I'm sharing my posts on: Twitter, Linkedin, Facebook groups, Email and I'm also cross-posting them to: Dev.to, Medium and FreeCodeCamp.
Any other ideas?
I'm not sure if I should buy some traffic. What do you say?
Traffic is a vanity metric. I see a lot of people that want more traffic. Why do you want more traffic? What's your goal?
You can build a high six-figures/low seven figures business with less than 3k unique visitors per month.
I want more traffic too because I think it would translate directly into more revenue!
More traffic translates in more revenues if you have found out your business model and target customer. If you have done these two things, yes you are right, more traffic=more revenue and you should look to improve it. @florinpop17 making money from sponsorships requires huge amounts of traffic or a highly targeted and high-ticket niche.
Starting to build traffic to then find sponsor doesn't seem a good idea for me for a simple reason: there have never been so many alternatives for people looking to advertise their business, a lot of them are effective and cheap at the same time. You are basically competing with Google, all the main social media and all the blogs in your niche without any real competitive advantage. If you have a good amount of traffic right now, maybe it's a good strategy. But if you have to build it basically from scratch, you should look for other forms of monetization.

I suppose that your marginal cost is 0 or close to 0. In that case, you should try deals sites like appsumo, greedeals, dealify, stacksocial, dealfuel and so on. You aren't going to make money on the deals but it should help you grow your customer base (more potential shares and referrals) and grow your long term traffic too.
More traffic would mean bigger revenue and also I would be able to get some sponsorship deals.
Buying traffic is a waste of time and money.
Running ads, on the other hand, might be a bit different if you can target people specifically interested in your content, and you only get people interested enough to click, but it still wouldn't make sense from a profit perspective.
Traffic is a fairly meaningless metric. I would take 10 dedicated fans over 25,000 random internet browsers any day.
That's true... dedicated fans are important!
I'd probably just stick to Dev.to, Twitter and maybe FCC for your audience. For devs they're great places to build an audience. You'll probably get more from producing more regularly and/or improving how useful your posts are.
Also, this may just be me, but I find the post excepts moving every time I pass my mouse over them extremely annoying and that makes it hard to spend time on the site. It looks like a lot of others enjoy your site though, since you're already at Alexa 400k, so good job!
I haven't really checked Alexa yet, lol.

Go to https://www.florin-pop.com/blog or any page with multiple post excerpts. Move your mouse over them and they move. It's really annoying.
