Marketing Struggles - Feedback needed!

Recently, I have been struggling with business marketing. It is embarrassing how little exposure and knowledge I have of this subject.

Canada Post / Postes Canada is running a free postage promotion for new small businesses. I decided to try it out and created a postcard design.

I would like to reach out to IH community for some feedback and criticism before these are shipped off for printing.

Is it clear what the value proposition is?
Does the design make sense?
Is the postcard eye-catching?
Am I completely out to lunch with this one?

Just wanted to share an update. I ended up hiring a designer on Upwork to help me with the flyer. The original post has been updated with the version that went to print and was sent out to 6000 residences.

The results have been subpar. There were 47 new direct visitors to the website as of today.

Do you think it was because the flyer design was not effective?
    or
Do you think it was the wrong advertising channel?
    or
    What else can it be?

    Hey!

I agree with the above here, too much copy, man... it just seems like you’re screaming info at me. The way I see it you should probably drill it down to a couple of USPs and play around with some nice images and fonts.

Canva.com is awesome and it has so many great templates, it almost does the job of a 10$ Fiverr designer. I’m not a designer myself but have managed to create good content from there.

Design really matters, probably more than copy. If you can make both eye-catching then you got yourself a good piece! Not sure this helped much, I’d just say that it doesn’t look very startup-y now, but it’s awesome that you asked for feedback from the community :)

After reading it, I more or less understand what the value proposition is.

However, if I received this in the mail along with all other flyers, I personally wouldn't even read it.

    There's too much copy.

Focus on one selling point that would make the customer see your value or be intrigued to learn more.

    Here's an example:

"It's official, here's (insert area) top 10 real estate agents for 2020"

The goal of this flyer should be to grab their attention and then your website should further push the value.

    Hope this helps.

OMG - thank you for posting and looking for feedback...yes, you are out to lunch lol 😬

It kind of looks like notes for law school right now.....make it fun! Fun images! Fun copy! Yay!

I would hire someone on Fiverr for $30 and have them design something for you. Just do a quick consultation and let them create something....fun! Also, maybe QR code to your website on the postcard?

Also, w/ regards to your website - it actually looks pretty good - I would do a few things.

    1. Make sure your above the fold copy instantly tells the person what you do - you kind of hide the reveal only if they scroll down.

    2. Make sure they can see that info on their phone.

    3. Why do they need to contact you to find an agent. Can't you have them answer like 10 questions online and then serve up the agents that are a fit?

Thank you so much for your honest feedback!

My experience with Fiverr has been great if I am able to give very clear instructions. The problem here is I don't know what the flyer should look like, so I am not able to guide the designer.

QR code is a great idea - I will definitely incorporate that into the flyer.

Ironically, I only spent a couple of hours putting the website together. The 'out to lunch' flyer took much longer... I will make sure I address the points you mentioned.

For point #3, the portal is in development but not ready yet. I am going live and will do the matching by hand.

Gotcha. Even if you need to get revisions done, I still think that’s the route...maybe Upwork is better?

As far as database in dev, even having a form that someone can submit for now. I just don’t see people going for a consultation.

Maybe consultation is the wrong word. I would need to get in touch with them over email or phone to get the relevant details.

The more you can deliver value without them having to talk on the phone to you, the better. Young, tech enabled people just want to go, they don't want to wait to schedule a phone call.
