Marketplace API Alternative?

Hi,

When building a marketplace platform, a marketplace API is obviously at the core of the app but to get one you need to do the business registration, etc. What if you just want to make a prototype app or MVP for presentation? What are the alternatives? How did you build your marketplace app?
