Just curious if anyone has any experience with any mastermind groups?

Yes, I have good experiences and bad experiences.
Good: Great people who are all smart and very good at giving useful feedback.
Bad: Great people who have the best intentions but speak without having experience. Will lead you astray faster than anything else. Bad mastermind groups actually take away lot more time than they give you.
Ideally you find a good group of people who have slightly different skills than you and can actually give feedback in a constructive way. Also it's reciprocal. You need to have some knowledge to give to others that is helpful, constructive and from experience.

The ones I am in are private. Meaning not like "secret" they are just pulled together by shared experiences or knowing one person. I don't pay to be in them.
In digital nomad spots (chiang mai and bali) they are prevalent, in an ad hoc way. I have created my own in the past. "meet weekly to discuss newsletters" < 1 person showed up to that.
I've done indiehacker meetups that turned into master minds. One indiehacker meetup I hosted I got invited to a weekly maker meetup / hackathon. It's a group of makers all help each other. *Hello Hackagu!
I like the idea but I have not had any success myself. I would be interested to hear what other people think is the right ingredients for a successful mastermind group.
