Hi all!
We recently launched The Pond, a free matching app for entrepreneurs to find talent (cofounders & team members) and opportunities (startups to join). As we all know, finding a cofounder is often the most difficult part of getting a startup off the ground, so our app curates high-quality matches through targeted criteria and detailed profiles.
If you're looking to expand your startup team, or looking for a team to join, you should check it out! You can download it here: https://get.thepond.app/ih
Feel free to reach out with any questions!
Took a look at your app, and I must say; you did a great job!
The match-making feature allows me to match with like-minded people, cutting through a lotta bs factors.
Can't see any loops for now, I'd test the app more and give feedback.
@danielthegeek thank you for sharing! Definitely feel free to reach out if you have any questions or suggestions :)
Is this similar to BumbleBizz?
Hi @SEOguy! It is similar in that it is a professional matching app - however, The Pond provides a much more targeted experience specific to entrepreneurs and startups looking for talent, whereas Bumble Bizz has a more general professional networking vibe.
App not available in my region - UK 😕
Hi @vin047 - sorry about that! We're currently only available in the U.S. and Canada, but we will be expanding down the road. I can let you know when we are available in the UK!
Sure. I've followed your product page. Looking forward to it!
Now we can find good looking co-founders!
I think that approaching this problem from an internet dating standpoint isn't the right strategy. Even "curating" it I'm not sure is the right approach. You will not be able to tell the riff raff apart from the really talented people and you shouldn't try.
I think the less-wrong approach is to start with the ideas/problems people are interested in - and then have people identify each other according to the common problems they want to work on.
There you go again, as usual... Learn to appreciate people's efforts first before criticizing, it's encouraging and it'll go a long way.
Hi @combition,
Thanks for your input! I think it's important to note that the "internet dating standpoint" isn't the only differentiator with our product, although to be fair, I didn't go into a ton of detail in my post.
What we're doing is providing a much more efficient tool for entrepreneurs to find the people that they're looking for. Interest is definitely important, but skills and ability are also very important. During account creation, users are able to provide a lot of detail about who they are, what their venture is (problem, solution, etc.), and what they're looking for, and the matches are based on the targeted criteria/information, which can include the common problems they want to work on.
There is a lot more we can/plan to build out with the app, but the matching aspect vs. the "search directory" tools that currently exist has actually been quite effective. Rather than entrepreneurs having to waste their time trying to search through/reach out to people who are completely irrelevant and uninterested, we're putting only the people that they're looking for AND are also looking for someone like them right in front of them.
