A few weeks ago, I mentioned that I'd recently started measuring my monthly recurring happiness (MRH) ๐
As I'm building a lifestyle business, this is the North Star metric I'd like to optimise for.
Using Notion, I've created a table for keeping tabs on this score.
Below my list of daily tasks, I've added a simple table with 31 rows.
At the end of each day, I score my overall happiness out of 10.

When scoring each day, I've also created a guideline for how I grade my rating.
For example, if I experience a day where I just coast by, I'll only allow myself to rate it a 6.
Although I'm generally content on the days, I'd prefer to do things that truly bring me joy.
At the end of the month, I just calculate the average score across all days to determine my overall rating.
If my rating between months starts to drop, I'll know to prioritise doing more of the things I love to lift my score โ๏ธ
I'd love to see more makers measuring their happiness if it's something they value.
If you found this tweet insightful, I'd recommend checking out my Twitter profile where I share regular tweets about indie hacking.
I love the MRH term. :D
It's also interesting that you seem to average around 7. I feel like this would happen to >50% of people.
Thanks! Everyone's own score is open to their own interpretation, so the average will vary based on their own lifestyle factors.
For me, a 7 is above average, but still has room for improvement.
Donโt studies show that everybody goes back to their own average happiness level (โset-pointโ) after a while?
