Medium is internet cancer.
I can just imagine their tagline for marketers:
"Finally, a newsletter that makes it as hard to connect with followers as social media!"

I feel it's kinda hilarious that you can promote having a 'newsletter functionality' but no access to email addresses.

No. Medium should be considered like Facebook. It’s a platform you can strategically use to get attention but your ultimate goal should be driving traffic to your own properties.
I just sent the first letter for our publication - yeah it's a joke. As a medium partner, I was told we aren't allowed to embed a newsletter form as a partner, nor are our writers allowed to add their own...yet now they've put a medium one on every single story in our pub!!

I'm not a Medium user, I'd be interested to know what others think of this.
So far, the big difference between medium and other platforms like substack is that publication owners can't actually see subscriber email addresses - they're completely locked into medium.
I don't know if this has changed (I doubt it), but will find out!
