this has been on the back of my mind for a while. I was a fan on medium when they launched. But hate what it has become. I have tried every CMS and writing tool out there. I have had it and I am building one.

Would be surprised to see anything better than WordPress's new editor. How will this be better than WordPress.com which offers all this functionality and more?
How easy is it to setup wordpress hosting , how do pick the right theme, are plugins secure and many many other issues.

Lots of WP veterans quitting WP after 10+ years.
It is a huge stress.
As far as cloud platforms go, there is none of this stress. I am purposefully making a distinction between WP.org (self hosted) and WP.com (cloud platform that will be competing with OP).
WordPress.com comes with jetpack which offers the newsletter subscription feature and more. Can be created in a few minutes with an enormous repository of ready to go themes. Everything is locked down and security checked on .com so no worries there.
As a blogging platform there must surely be more that can be offered to differentiate other than a nice looking blog, newsletter and custom domain.
Do not mean to be dismissive @Naveen, I applaud anybody building anything and there is always space for people to do things better. Just hope you can look at WP.com and hunt for some inspiration on how it can be better. Forget your self-hosted WordPress thoughts because this is not relevant. :)

Agree that using wp.com is easier than self hosted.
I am making the following bet
People want a simple way to create and to show off their talent ( writing, painting whatever )
If a wp.com was enough there wouldn't be medium and Substack and the 95 other cms'es out there.
