What would convince you that users are returning because they are genuinely improving their language ability, rather than just using WordByWord as a faster translation layer?
For me, the strongest signal would be a growing personal vocabulary. There are already plenty of translation tools, but WordByWord becomes much more valuable once users spend a little time marking the words they already know. That gives the system enough context to accurately show which words are truly unfamiliar and track real progress over time.
