Mental health and entrepreneurs

Ogho Enuku @Uzeziogho

How do you manage the pressure as an entrepreneur?

A lot of the time is spent on the computer, so i try to get some free time outside of it. Working out, playing piano, cooking recipies and meeting friends have done wonders

Guess it is more about mental health than pressure :P

You just have to make sure you have time to do other things that you enjoy doing. Exercise for me is key.

Think it's helpful to have someone to bounce ideas off. If you don't have a co-founder, someone else who's also an entrepreneur who you can swap ideas with is helpful.

I think about my daughter and am reminded that there are other things in life

Currently when under pressure I try to follow the stoic advice:

There are many factors that need to align so that the thing that I am trying to achieve will actually happen. And over most of those factors I have no or very little control. So all I got is to try to think things through, do my best to influence the factors that I actually have some control over and then not loose the consistency with doing those two things. And then whatever happens happens, I am fine with it.

This way I can unload some of the pressure I put on my self but still perform well.

In other words, if I am satisifed with the process of how I work as an entrepreneur, I try not to beat myself up if it does not always show in the results.

    It's hard.

There is a quote I read somewhere once that I love:

"You have an infinite amount of energy to do things that are working and zero energy to do things which are not."

If you're struggling, it might be a sign from your body that what you are doing is the wrong thing and it is going to do its best to not let you do that thing anymore. At least that's what I've found. You might have something you're holding onto that you know is wrong. Let that thing go.

    Take care of yourself :)

Whenever a problem is too complex or too heavy, outsource it to your community. When there is no community, outsource it God.
