Merging Long-term Rental listing platform with Short-term Rental App like AirBNB ? So as the question suggests, would it be a viable product to mix the two business models for ?
Airbnb is doing long term rentals.
Yes, with the confinement and pandemic many shifted from Airbnb to flat-sharing or long-term renting platform, as tourism and short-term dried up... and I guess that's when Airbnb introduced long-term...
I have seen some local here who listed their houses as short-term, the price obviously is per/night comparing ... Airbnb just multiplied price / night x 30 days and it ended up very high prices (Absolutely not the pricing in local market here at least)
Can you elaborate on why you think this would have an advantage over the other ones? Also I'm vaguely aware that AirBnB has a longer term renting options, just not as common.
Actually I already built react-native app backed with Firebase and some cloud functions and it's purely long-term rental listing simple app (MVP) for the local market to help people find easily rental listing per category, location ...etc (Major competitor would be Facebook listings although I pushed it with price suggestion algorithm). We all know long-term rental app would not be used if the peers accomplish the operation.
I want to mix it up with short-term stay which of course has lot of things to be aware of, like availability, payment, laws ..etc
And there is a use-case in local market here : where owner or rentee share his rental (flat-sharing) with third rentee can be for long-term, mid-term or even short-term.
I find it hard where to split the use cases : when to decide it's long or short-term ?
