I went and got some Leave Me Alone credits and am so pleased that I planted a tree in the process. 🌳😊🌳
Also something I've never really considered before is how emails can contribute to our carbon footprint.
I love how @dinkydani has designed this into her product. ❤️
There have been instances where I buy something from a big company and I get asked if I'd like to contribute $$$ to a charity. I always decline. It never feels right. And it feels like it is just money going into big people's pockets.
I like to tell myself that contributing in these small ways directly via indie hackers will make a difference.
Do you have an example of how to be positive in business? Whether it is yours or someone else's, I'd love to see more examples of how we can all make a difference.
I’m in the podcasting software business (or at least trying to get into it 😅), and I was thinking of making my tools free to use for podcasters taking up environmental issues. I haven’t decided if that is a good idea yet, because I haven’t listened to any podcasts about that subject.
Other than that, I asked my AWS representative over the phone whether it was possible to guarantee that the power for my services comes from carbon-neutral sources. He hadn’t been asked that before, he confessed. I’m still looking into what’s possible here. I believe green hosting can make a huge difference!
Thank you for sharing this Rosie! I was surprised to find out the carbon impact of emails too - I actually built the tree donations feature in as part of a climate challenge and wrote about it here if you're interested - you might find some other products making a difference from the challenge.
