Today I'm going to share a few common methods for removing text, watermarks, and logos from videos, and the last one is the latest and most effective AI-based method. Let's get started:
Method 1: Black Bar Overlay
How to: Manually draw a black overlay, making sure it covers the subtitles and is positioned between the safe frame and the subtitle safe frame. Then drag the new subtitle overlay to the V2 track to cover the video subtitles. This gives your video a cinematic feel.
Pros: Maintains original video aspect ratio, adds to a cinematic vibe.
Cons: The image size is reduced, therefore information is lost.
Method 2: Cropping and Masking
How to: In the video effects section, find the "crop effect" and drag it into the material. Then adjust the top and bottom parameters according to the exact location of the video subtitles.
Pros: Similar to Method 1, it maintains the original aspect ratio, creating a cinematic feel.
Cons: The image size is reduced, therefore information is lost.
Method 3: Scale and Displacement
How to: Move the pointer to where the subtitle is, open the control panel, and enlarge it proportionally while finely adjusting the position of that material to make the subtitle disappear.
Pros: Direct and effective, easy to use.
Cons: The size of the material is changed, and therefore not suitable for close-up or close-range shots.
Method 4: Gaussian Blur
How to: In the effect panel, search for "Gaussian blur" and use it as a mask on top of the subtitle. Then adjust the blur degree according to the original video.
Pros: Easy to learn, ideal for logo masking.
Cons: It can affect the image aesthetics and make the original position of the video blurry.
Method 5: Background Replacement
How to:
Use the razor tool to cut the two videos into two sections.
Use the crop tool to crop out the subtitles.
Move the timeline indicator to the frame with no text, copy this image and paste it over the cropped section.
Finally, put these copied videos on top of the original video to cover the subtitles.
Pros: This method is similar to using a cloning stamp in Photoshop and is suitable for static text processing.
Cons: If the background moves, it is not ideal.
The last method is to use GhostCut, an AI-based software that can automatically remove video text, watermarks, and stickers. The operation is also very simple.
Here are the steps:
Open the official website of GhostCut and register an account.
Upload the video and select the processing functions you need, such as translating hard subtitles, removing watermarks, removing text, or removing stickers.
Submit the processing and you can check the progress status in the works list. Once the processing is complete, you can download it to your computer.
The erasing function supports automatic recognition but also supports manual marking. If the erasing effect is not satisfactory, you can use the free recharge function.
Advantages:
GhostCut is an AI-based software that requires no editing skills and is easy to use, even for beginners.
The software supports multiple functions such as translating video hard subtitles, removing watermarks, removing text, and removing stickers, which can meet the different needs of users.
GhostCut's processing speed is very fast and can complete video processing in a short time.
GhostCut supports automatic recognition and manual marking to provide more accurate erasing effects.
GhostCut provides a free recharge function. If the erasing effect is not satisfactory, users can recharge it for free to maximize their rights.
Disadvantages:
GhostCut is an online service that requires a stable network connection. Poor network conditions may affect processing results.
Although GhostCut's processing speed is relatively fast, it still takes some time to process large videos, requiring patience waiting for completion.
Currently, GhostCut only supports videos up to 6 minutes, making it unsuitable for longer videos.
