Howdy IH! Question: I have regular issues with my guests having poor mic situations for their interview on Code Story (https://codestory.co). This leads to longer editing times, low quality episodes and sometimes, just plain having to do the interview over. Has anyone found a good way to overcome this, or am I making a big deal out it for no reason? Thanks!
What you're experiencing is a big deal, and something practically all podcasters have dealt at one point or another... here's a few things to help out:
Hope this helps, happy to dive deeper into anything too!
Saron sends mics to her guests. https://medium.com/@saronyitbarek/mailing-mics-to-podcast-guests-a2f5adf3a906
That will solve it for sure.
She also has a great idea for recording in a closet: https://medium.com/@saronyitbarek/the-ultimate-podcasting-hack-record-in-your-closet-39a478f4d89a
Have you heard of Krisp.ai app? It really helps to reduce any background noise. So I'd simply apply to this guys to get that app=)
I'll second Bradley's and Armik's recommendations about sending a checklist ahead of time and using Krisp.ai. Both are crucial -- Krisp.ai in particular is incredible.
Have your guest send a test recording so you know if there’s going to be a problem in advance.
Go to them whenever possible.
