I started working on a Micro Saas and I keep losing sight of the 'Micro' aspect of it. In short, I'm building an invoicing app with modern designs in hopes to catch creatives and freelances as my demographic.
That being said - there are competitors everywhere, which is great. However, my competitors aren't micro saas' and they are bloated with features. Do I deviate and compete with their extensive, probably 90% unused features or do I carry on with the 'micro' and focus truly on my core(invoicing & payments).
I want to say that if I build an incredibly easy to use software, that's well designed, I have a better chance at grabbing the users who don't want the bloat and complexity of my many competitors
Any and all help is appreciated
Your future customers know the answer to this question, and also which 10% of features are the important ones. Can you find 10 freelance designers and ask them about their invoicing habits?
Hey Chris,
I appreciate you taking the time to reply - I think I know the few most important ones but you're right - I need to find that out from my potential users. This is great advice and I'm not sure why I didn't think of that in the first place...
Heheh if you're anything like me talking to users is the very last thing on your mind. I am constantly trying to get myself to do this and failing. It's so much easier to just write code without any input.
You're so right - thanks again!
My first and foremost thought is: what differentiates micro vs bloated is support. People want to deal with a company that has their back. Also, just because you don't have all the features shouldn't mean you won't be open to adding some. Always listen to your customers, if you don't have feature X and you keep getting asked about feature X, add feature X.
