🚩 Milestone: I got 10 subscribers on the Mac App Store! (and learnings)

My App: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/id1533756032

Such a weird milestone, but I'm happy!

Roughly 2 months ago, I changed my pricing model on the Map App Store from one-time purchase ($60) to subscription ($25/year). Nobody buy my apps anymore.

And now, I finally get 10 subscribers! It all happens in the last 2 weeks!

A few reasons I think have contributed to this:

I released a new version with new features

These are all high-demand features that a lot of my customers have asked me to add. I think they only waited to see when the feature is out and decide to buy after they see it.

I became more active on Twitter

My Twitter (https://twitter.com/tdinh_me) has been growing! A lot of people discovered my app via Twitter.

I polished my app store listing

My previous app store listing is really, really bad. It's just poorly captured screenshots and a few short description texts that only enough to get through the App Store reviewers.

I changed that by updating all the marketing materials, optimizing keywords, polishing the changelogs...

I started a newsletter!

I have been collecting emails during checkout but never actually doing anything about it. Recently, I set up a simple newsletter with Revue. The whole newsletter content is the release notes and some small tips about the app.

I think this helped convert the customers who abandoned the checkout. They may see their favorite feature is released and decided to buy it!

That's it!

I think there may be more reasons that I'm not aware of. No matter what, I'll continue to learn and improve the app as well as my marketing (especially marketing, which I suck!).

Wish me luck! Thanks for reading.
