Mini story about my old shopify app

Many years ago I wanted to put an app into the Shopify app store. This feels like 6-8 years ago. Those times, I believe I saw one or two apps that did what I initially wanted to start off with. That never threw me off as I was encouraged by the negative comments from those apps. I never had much experience with APIs, Nodejs, Ruby etc. I forgot about it and other things came along.

I was going through some list of side projects to have ready for my CV and low and behold, I saw the shopify app I was attempting to make: A Xero Integration app. I almost deleted it 🙀Today, I must say I know API, Nodejs and Ruby pretty well and I got very excited about this. Though I'm late to the game, I will still pursue this endeavour and I've refactored the code to use Nextjs. It works pretty well but I'm afraid to make it public for testing as it feels basic. Though it's basic, I have a long list of things I wanna throw at it but I wanna start this off on the right path: MVP, ask customers what they want etc.

For those who launched their first ever app of the Shopify app store, what gave you the drive to get it on the app store? Did you performed private testing?
