Miyagii - Landing Page Feedback

Hey everyone, this is the first time I've ever had to build a landing page, would be absolutely amazing to get some feedback please. At the moment its mostly to validate our concept though we do have 4 mentors ready and waiting and a few interested parties in our personal networks.     The thoughts I had:

    • How good are these mentors than asking people in my network?
    • Is there a match making process or is there just one person who is the mentor?
    • Specifically who is the mentor (or a couple profiles of the mentors). Putting a face to a name would be nice, even if I know that might not be the mentor I'd get.
    • Maybe some social proof could help. If they mentored Steve Jobs or something that's a big selling point.

      thanks for the feedback really helpful, will definitely work this into our model.

      1. The mentors are to be vetted by admin to ensure they are of a certain standard. We still need to determine a meansof measuring the standard of mentor.
      2. The platform is actually going to be a double sided marketplace, with multiple mentors and mentee's. Im guessing this wasnt very clear so thats a super handy insight!
        3.Yeah totally agree, once up and running each mentor will have a profile, description and reviews.
      3. Again totally agree, getting an influential mentor on board would be an absolute game changer for us. Once the platform is built a lot of our focus will be in pulling in an all star mentor to gain a huge presence.

    You use it in 2 places on your site, and I find it quite bad for readability, especially under "how it works".

    instead, use:

    or simply:

    re: the purpose of the landing page -- I feel like it's too early / pointless to sign up. So I don't think the landing page will show if there is interest in the idea.

    You aren't the first/only mentorship site, so maybe some more information on why I should be excited about this site in particular would be useful.

      Thanks for the insight @sobbuh definitely hadnt considered these, so super handy.

      1. with the name, preferred miyagi but just couldnt get the domain, finding the domain for our preffered name was proving a challenge. With this were thinking of an updated logo with the first "i" having a higher dot, and 2nd "i" a lower mark. Thinking it portrays a senior and junior, suggesting mentorship.

      2. Main competitors are clarity.fm, then mentorship programs and mentorship programmes.

      Our main diffrentiation
      clarity.fm - this is geared towards technical expertise, you visit the site to speak with a professional on say seo only, for a one off period.

      mentorship programmes - these are slow moving with limited options with regards to who your mentor is, and limited access to information.

      Were building a platform to make it easier to find a mentor, for ongoing support and guidance. Speaking with a mentor you choose on a monthly basis for on going support on your journey.
      Were considering making it a subscription agreement between mentor and mentee, though this may be hard to make work I think it lends itself well to both parties.

      1. Good point re: too early with landing page, this has partly been to force myself to get the ball rolling, but this is a good point. Any advice on more important next steps at all?
