Moats for newsletters?

What are the moats you can create for your newsletter?

(apart from your relationship with the subscribers)

Say a new player copies your content and the format for a cheaper fee (which is expected), what will protect your revenue ?

Eg. Moat could be - A good community group.

What else?

If you already have CC files and the two products are the same, you will keep your customer. If the other newsletter is 2x better... you will keep the customer.

Its surprisingly difficult to change as a consumer, who you buy from.

Also, by charging and gaining revenue, you have more options than a new bootstrapped opèration. You can make a better user experience. You can spend money on ads.

I would be suspicous of new entrants who copy you exactly. Are they money grabbers? If you feel that way, then users and readers will too.

Being you, and the experience you have.

Also, the longer you do it, the better understanding and ability you have to bring good info together.

But also just accept there will always be competitors, if you focus on keeping your readers happy then they are more likely to hang around.

      Brilliant!

Reminds me of a saying by bezos from an old interview when barnes and nobles entered online book selling back in the days.

Bezos said, Always think about your customers and how to serve them well, because they pay you, not the competitors.
