Though many of you know it is a best practice to move fast, how many of you are actually moving fast?
Over the last weeks I have been moving into a cadence where I'm actually getting work done, and being able to respond to feedback nearly right away. Specifically this means I'm able to ship multiple small improvements each day, gradually improving upon prior art. It's truly amazing to see something grow this way.
However, I understand now that before getting here there are many prerequisites to be fulfilled. Two important factors for me to get here were related to having the enabling technical infrastructure, and having a product which I'm actually proud to have built. This in turn lead to the confidence I needed in order to reach out to people around me.
How do you gain your momentum? What are your enabling factors?
Biggest thing for momentum is consistency. Developing that cadence, as you mention, is the only way you can accelerate towards your goals.
You just repeat the same positive behaviors and slowly build on them. Most people give up after dropping the ball one day or feeling tired so they never build that momentum.
I agree completely and totally with @roddanan. I think the biggest thing for me is "feeling" progress. And that happens when I see what I've done and all the small steps that have gotten me to the point I'm at. That means writing things down in order to see all that I've been able to accomplish. Do you write things down in order to see how far your momentum has gotten you?
