Monday Edition: #Daily-Stand-Up

Why?

That extra nudge of accountability to achieve even a small step on your IH journey each day.

To join in:

01 Share your epic (a big chunk of work with a meaty objective) you'd like to complete by the end of March.

02 Share what you accomplished yesterday.

03 Share what you commit to accomplishing today.

04 Comment on at least one fellow hacker's progress and give them an IH Point for their check in.

Optional:

05 Share your Work In Progress to underscore your accomplishments.

Then tune in the tomorrow to share how you did on your own tasks!

    01: EPIC

Design, build and deploy a small, free web app which helps business owners craft better customer support emails. The goal is to build a real-world, useful product while honing my JavaScript skills.

    02: YESTERDAY

Over the weekend I straightened out a few bugs, added animation to the page, wrote some content snippets.

    03: TODAY

Iron out remaining bugs (it's broken on IE11, surprise surprise! also improve copy to clipboard functionality, which currently includes HTML tags and doesn't work on mobile) and continue writing all the content for each scenario.

Also was inspired by @helengriffinjr to carry out a self-assessment today: review my work over the last year, note what I did well and areas for improvement.

    05: WIP

Lots of content still missing but the infrastructure is in place. Feedback SO welcome!

KUDOS: @jpusateri for gently nudging me to share my WIP, thank you!

    1. 3

Congrats on releasing! This is where the fun starts :-D

    2. 3

OMG, I like what I see. I'll dig into Marshmellow later w/ a critical eye.

Good luck w/ the assessment. It can be an emotional task but once you see clearly, hope prevails then dream inspires you into an action hero.

      1. 1

Yay!! So glad you like it so far!

I did the self-assessment this morning and it did feel quite therapeutic. I feel like I can let go of certain things by having written them down. Also realised I'm really, really hard on myself — must be kinder!! Thanks again for the inspiration, was much needed.

    3. 2

Congrats, @marianneciara! If you're around this weekend, poke me with a reminder to play around! MVP is looking good!

    1. 1

Hi @tela! What do you mean by "Finalized entitlements for paid version of the MVP product"?

      1. 1

Hi @helengriffinjr! I'm happy to. An 'entitlement' is SaaS-speak for the features that you (as a certain user role) have access to when your account is at a specific subscription tier. Basically, it's the list of features I'm gonna charge $ for at MVP =)

    2. 1

Interesting concept. So do I understand correctly that the app scrapes visual data from the provided URL, e.g. hex codes, fonts etc?

      1. 1

Hi @marianneciara - that's correct! We extract the colors, fonts and logos and build a brand guidelines page for you. You can, of course, also upload assets we didn't find on your site. When the beta is available, would you want to give it a try?

        1. 1

Sure, I'd be happy to give the beta a spin and share any feedback I have with you.

  5. 4

    IRT PullManager.com

    EPIC:

By End of March: No gated beta. I have a list now and think I have a short term beta release soon (0-2 weeks away)...but I'd like to be at a stage to just let visitors "sign up" by the end of the month.

By End of 2019: Have this product still going and growing. Some may see that as too vague, but as someone with a few failed SaaS, this would be quite the improvement.

Weekend: I was able to knock out a large chunk of the Slack related notifications settings and sending system. Also I tried to be a bit more active in IH.

Today(tonight): Work on the email portion of the notification system (and as a developer, I hate sending emails programmatically...they never look right).

Kudos: Everyone...it's great to see everyone hacking away at thier side projects/hustles!
