Monday Standup

What are your goals for August?

What did you do yesterday to work toward your goal?

What will you do today?

  1. 2

August goals: App store acceptance, early user invitations, market positioning refinement
Yesterday: iOS debugging and finally got Instagram approval (whew!)
Today: iOS debugging in prep for app store submission

    1. 2

Looks like it is all starting to come together?

      1. 1

        Yes :-) Thanks for noticing!

  2. 2
    1. Launching our directory on design conferences: Conferences.Design on producthunt
    2. Running a successful conference on side projects: Https://5to9.co
    3. Moving our community from Slack to Circle (a big one)
  3. 2

For august, I'm planning to go from alpha to beta with https://midnight.pub. I'm learning a lot as I go with the little community over there, but some remaining things:

    • Have a page for the newsletter
    • Allow people to update/change their password
    • Experiment on a "point" system to allow the feed to not update too quickly.
    1. 1

This looks really interesting! How many alpha users are there?

  4. 2

August: Launch MockRocket.io to early access users

Yesterday: Built out a really nice depth-of-field blur system and manual position controls

Today: Finish up some of the work in the settings panel

  5. 2

I actually just finished launching BuildFaster.co's Affiliate Program! You can sign up here: https://brayden45dev.typeform.com/to/yHn1vh2X

  6. 2

My goals for August is to launch on HN and PH.
Yesterday I was polishing Pinger landing page, working on teaser which shows you detailed report about response times of your site from different locations.
Today I'll keep on working on this, also I plan to fix flashing landing's content twice =\

    1. 2

@Akcium best wishes for your launch. The landing page looks simple and clear messaging of what you do.

      1. 1

Thank you! Btw you got a wrong link in your comment below for community.habitate.io!

        1. 1

Hey, thank you for pointing this out 😅.

For August, I plan to work on the math section of https://dev.pinguni.org. I need to work on asking for feedback, but I'm not sure how to go about that yet.

  8. 1

    My Goals:
    ✅Launch MVP for https://thecrabhole.com

    • Get 25 users
    • Get feedback from at least 5 users

Yesterday I hit the deploy button and The Crab Hole went live 🎉

Today I will mention The Crab Hole on IH and Reddit

  9. 1

What are your goals for August?
    Make 200 sales.

What did you do yesterday to work toward your goal?
Launched on HN randomly, took it to the front page 😍 and made 40+ sales and 2k+ in revenue.

    What will you do today?
Analyzing our data and fixing some things in hope to increase our conversion rate.

Our product 👉 frontendor.com (create landing pages by copy-paste)

    1. 1

      Oh nice results, congrats!

  10. 1

For August, I'm going to wrap up a side project and two contracting jobs I took on last month so that I can use my free time to focus on my new project (which I actually wanted to start almost 2 months ago).

    Yesterday:

    • Finalized deliverables for 2 contracts with points of contact
    • Wrote out final spec for side project

    Today:

    • Deliver code for one contract & send invoice
    • Review legal stuff from other contract (did that one for equity - never doing that again)
    • Add Stripe checkout to old side project

    End of August:

    • No more active contracts and have only my new side project on my plate
  11. 1

For August, I plan on finishing up the final features and launching the paid beta for Nodewood. I hope to also put together an article I'm tentatively titling "Nodewood or NoCode?" to drive traffic and start discussion.

Yesterday I relaxed, to get myself in a good headspace to work today. =)

Today, I'm finishing work on applying coupons to subscriptions, and cleaning up a bunch of CLI issues I noticed while building out the "create subscriptions" feature.

  12. 1

    Hi!

I have two goals for August:

    1. I will validate a problem I have been mulling over with contacts on LinkedIn.
    2. Depending on the feedback, I will brainstorm possible solutions and start a prototype or I will find a new problem.

Yesterday I compiled a list of questions and a list of people I will contact to validate the problem

Today I will start reaching out to those contacts

  13. 1

My goal for August is to obtain 1k users on my app, https://madeyoulaugh.app . We launched in June and currently have 500. The app is based on our patented technology that allows your phone to detect laughter. It's a fun community to post funny content and see how many people actually laugh. Users can also challenge each other to a video "laugh-off". Here is a teaser video... https://youtu.be/EFrxkiIyJ_4 Check it out and help me meet my goal! Thanks

    1. 1

      1000k => 1M
that's really ambitious or was it a typo?

      1. 1

        Typo, but would be nice!

  14. 1

My plans for August are to gather as many people as possible around their love of programming in the areas of trading, betting, and so on.

Today I started writing small lessons for those who are just getting into this topic and who would be interested in trying to program something really fun and interesting:
    https://gaserd.xyz/?go=all/how-create-stock-screener-on-node-js-ep1/

And yesterday I finished setting up the subscription system for my blog.

  15. 1

My goals for August are to publish my first 5 "developer Stories" interviews in my weekly newsletter and also relaunch the website to include these.

The interviews will be with developers who are building products for developers. I have had a good response to this and have quite a few in the pipeline.

I would also like to increase the number of subscribers to my newsletter www.trendingprojects.com which showcases useful and trending projects for web developers. I am happy with the growth but always great to see new subscribers.

Yesterday I continued work on the new site and today I would love to get it deployed. Although this might be pushing it.

  16. 1

Our goal this month is to publicly launch Tidze, an all-in-one live streaming and ticketing platform for musicians, creators and entertainers.

Yesterday, I spent a lot of time on AWS setting up and testing our load balancers and integrating with Elasticache.

Today, testing our live broadcasting solution again - will make any incremental improvements.

We also have our first demo this afternoon with a potential customer, they know it's still in development but it will be useful to get some early feedback.

  17. 1

Happy stand up today as we got our first sale for Siteoly

    Posted the same at https://www.indiehackers.com/post/got-first-sale-first-negative-comment-to-first-sale-d479e8f898

Goals for August : Get 10 sales at least for Siteoly.
Yesterday : Worked with prospective customer to implement a few features.
Today : Reach more users from initial subscribers

  18. 1

Just launched on Product Hunt :)

I think writing a manifesto for this idea will be received well.

      1. 1

That's a really good idea! Thanks.

  19. 1

Our main goal for this month is to release our new desktop apps for Supernotes – which are highly requested by our users.

We also have some cool new features in the pipeline such as the ability to pin note-cards and be able to import from other note-taking / knowledge base platforms such as Roam Research.

    1. 2

Hey @tobeagram, impressed by your product landing page, the idea. Any plan on launching for macos?

      1. 1

Thanks @Deepak09, we are launching the desktop apps for Mac, Windows and Linux this month!

        1. 1

          Awesome, sign me up.

  20. 1

Testing our product's new user experience by creating a community for ourselves at community.habitate.io, fingers crossed people like it. Still a few bugs to solve, and admin pannel pages have to be revamped.

Parallelly, I am talking to people, earning their feedback, and first impressions. I hope a great month awaits.

    1. 1

Nice, hope the implementation goes well! Guessing you are going to use Discourse?

We have seen a great benefit having a community page at Supernotes, it's really useful engaging with our users and hearing their feedback. Definitely a lot better than ephemeral chats like Discord or Slack where feature requests / bug reports get lost in the channels.

      1. 1

Not discourse, we are using our very own product habitate.io, we just revamped the user interface. So before rolling out new UI, decided to be our own customer and feel what it's like.

        1. 2

Ahh gotcha, Discourse definitely needs some more competition! I just checked Habitate out, I like the central feed approach of the posts and that you can upvote/downvote posts at a granular level.

          1. 1

@tobeagram I just signed up, 😍 dark theme.

          2. 1

Hey, thanks, @tobeagram, we have updated the interface a bit and internally testing out at community.habitate.io - Would love to hear your feedback, things you think we could do better.
